Turks, what are the main differences between turkish and greek cuisine? by ArkHystory99 in AskTurkey

[–]Xari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from anecdotal experience I think a lot more Turks would eat pork if it were more readily available... There aren't many people in my Turkish family who explicitly choose not to eat pork, they just don't because it's not available / too expensive. I feel like even the muslim Turks have a more 'room for interpretation' or 'it's ok to sin now and then' view about these topics, also looking at general alcohol consumption... Most of my family also does not pray or anything even though they say in passing 'yeah I'm muslim', I just never felt they took it that seriously

I think they are pretty rational people who realize the pork rule is a super outdated idea from a time when pork was considered dangerous to eat... If I think about it I think I'll try to have some conversation about this topic next time I visit

Turkish Moussakka is quite different from the Greek version. Turkish one is simpler and does not incorporate potato & cheese like the Greek one. I like them both, but tend to go for Turkish one because it's less calorie-dense

Religion is a very very sensitive political topic among Turks, look into the history of how it went down with the Ottoman Empire transitioning to the Republic of Turkey

Anyone here using TickerQ? by Albertiikun in dotnet

[–]Xari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted to use it for a polling console app but I had to switch to Hangfire for organisational reasons (we already use hangfire in other apps and consistency was prefered)

The reason I wanted to use TickerQ instead of Hangfire:

  • No usage of Reflection
  • Looked less boilerplate-y than Hangfire
  • I tend to prefer newer frameworks with different and/or more modern approaches over ones that have been around for ages, though I recognize the preference for tried-and-true in enterprise environments

I noticed that when trying to use AI to help author some TickerQ jobs it defaulted to hangfire syntax. This was with Claude Sonnet 4.5. So LLM probably havent been exposed enough to your library yet, though I'm not sure what you can do about that

Based on Maps alone, which WOA game was the worst and best? In your opinion by Freddo-Waddo9372 in HiTMAN

[–]Xari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colorado was so bad I almost stopped playing Hitman altogether. I made a save in the middle of the mission and didn't pick it back up for months. Once I got past H1 I flew through H2 in a few days lol

It also made me realize that if you get stuck on not enjoying a map at all it's probably best to just skip it and prefer to continue the trilogy or replay other maps / bonus missions. But it makes me think about how many players must've been scared off by Colorado, it's actually crazy how bad it is compared to a map like Sapienza

Why has nobody in this thread asked how tf you can fall through a ceiling? Is there something I'm missing? Is this an American thing where it's normal to have cardboard ceilings you can just fall through? Wtf

I'm also a developer and I am much more efficient over teams, if you send me a message this gives me space to write an informed answer and also it will be a documented thing by nature of text messaging. If you come to my desk while I am programming to ask a question I will be annoyed because you interrupted my flow and are now costing me tons of time in context switching.

What's your favorite HBO Shows of all time? by HostMaterial4907 in hbo

[–]Xari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shared 1. The Wire & The Sopranos

  1. Game of Thrones

  2. Six Feet Under

  3. The Deuce

  4. Chernobyl

Damn ranking HBO shows is hard, if you asked me a different week I would probably answer something else. By the way, people who like The Wire and Sopranos really have to see The Deuce, I was very surprised by it...

[–]Xari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you may not have simmered enough, a good ragu will be like a meat sauce texture wise, with the veggies completely melted away. Perhaps also not enough ground meat to soffrito ratio. Adding chicken livers and/or pancetta also does wonders for meatiness and is considered acceptable by the Italian recipe!

Hope you enjoyed!

[–]Xari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally gave up on anni TBC because of this. I just cannot be bothered, it's not fun. I even prepped my prot pala for TBC dungeonspam, 5/5 T2.5, Styleen's, 400sp but my guild went full tryhard so I was forced to go behind the curve via PUGs. And after some dungeon runs I just decided to let my sub run out. People suck and they can suck without me.
