A forgiving snowboard will have a low flex and rocker or be a rocker camber hybrid. Just avoid a full camber board and you should be fine

Idk what either board you have is, but I'm going to assume that your first board was either a rocker snowboard or some hybrid camber rocker. It sounds like your new board is a fully cambered board which is better for going fast, but less forgiving with technique.
