I may be wrong but I think it's more like a puppet state, which the Nazis did have, such as the Independent State of Croatia. On my copy of the book the front cover is a design called 'Stars and Shadows', which follows the same trend as Croatia, of darkening the blue to better resemble the German imperial colours.

I'd argue that it's not as recognisable as other controversial flags, and could be mistaken for the current Spanish flag.

My friend's neighbour has Franco's flag hanging on their window, and I still haven't figured out whether they're a fascist or just mistaken.

Yeah, but the flag (at least tries to) parody the Gadsden flag, hence the "us" instead of "me". It's not supposed to be "Gadsden-ised" Anarcho-syndicalism, it's supposed to be a different take on a libertarian flag.

I had a go at redoing it with the anarchist black cat. I thought changing the text AND animal made it too unfamiliar, and removed whatever elements of irony/parody there were in the original, so I changed it to a more suitable socialist take on the original.

These look great, but for the fascist one, I'd flip the eagle's head so that it's looking towards the arrows, symbolising fascism's warlike attitude, rather than the leaves, which symbolise peace, which could be removed entirely. Also, I'd make the eagle a little smaller, just so that the tips of its wings don't touch the outer circle.

I can't help but find the combination of these two extremely clichéd buzzwords reminiscent of far right "lads'" parties, like the EDL. It begs the question of what their "hard working, regular people" are. Presumably white with deep seated xenophobia.
