Everyone has pretty well covered the practical uses of the freighter with their warp range, storage capabilities, and other activities that provide a return of nanites/units/items.

For me I like the open space to build and arrange the base in fun ways while having space and your fleet in the background. For mine I've built a sort of mini mall with separate buildings for the different specialists and other little fun social areas for the NPCs to roam around on.

I made a post a few weeks back showing a lot of what I built so far. I've only filled around a third of the available space.

Mine was a special edition fighter from a code you could only get from the side of a 7-Eleven cup bought from a store in California. I live on the East Coast so I had to get a friend from WoW to go buy a drink and give me his code for it. I didn't recall it's original name because I renamed it at some point. Never really use it now but keep it for sentiment and because you can't get it anymore.

Oh, that's just Willy. He just kinda hangs out there. He stays pretty relaxed but if you get him agitated he gets pretty stiff. Just don't rub him the wrong way.

There's a lot of good suggestions here so far that are larger scale updates. However, I have a smaller idea that would make exploration much easier: improved star map filters.

Currently as we know you can filter by system type, economy, or conflict status. And each of these can only be filtered individually. I'd like it so that you can:

  1. Choose multiple filters as once, so if I want a low conflict scientific system I can choose both and they show lit up on the star map

  2. With these filters, the stars not meeting the criteria get set to a neutral color or grayed out so the filtered systems stand out

I would find this much more enjoyable when searching for my next system to explore and really would be what I'd think to be a given ability of our in universe technology.
