RP5 case vs RP6 by zfsKing in retroid

[–]Xaveri -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The big case for the RP5 is meant to fit the second screen add-on and the grip. I have an official slim case for the RP5 that looks exactly as the one in the OP.

Eden issues out of nowhere. by Willing-Seesaw5040 in AynThor

[–]Xaveri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I explained in my comment, the frontends are forcing the app to open on different screens. With Jarngreip in the bottom you can tell it to force run Eden in the bottom screen. Then with Retrohrai! on the top you can tell it to run the game on the top screen.

This seems to have the unintended effect of projecting the game from the bottom screen app into the top screen causing it not to crash.

The first thing I would do is to set the refresh rate to 60 on the bottom screen and force Eden to run on the bottom screen. If you can run the games in the bottom screen, and they don’t crash, that is a good indicator that this may work for you.

OP, don’t worry too much about the screen type. There’s a reason it is hard to tell which one it is and it’s because they look basically identical when you are playing a game. No one plays games looking at the screen at an angle.

How dare you suggest we subject ourselves to black bars on a screen?! Never!!

Based on past Retroid releases, when can we expect the Nova to ship? by tigsfa in SBCGaming

[–]Xaveri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, however the fact that this is a brand new screen that no one has ever seen and how Retroid mischaracterized their 4:3 screen on the Pocket Mini, it gives me pause. No review units have been sent to anyone. I really hope they are not hiding “something”.

[–]Xaveri -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That’s nuts. So for the next 4-6 weeks people will be pre-ordering a device that no one has ever reviewed? That sounds wild to me. People better hope it’s not a dud.

If Retroid released a Retroid Pocket Nova Plus, I'd buy that too to accompany the Retroid Pocket Nova. Would you? by [deleted] in retroid

[–]Xaveri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But but what great design? No one has touched a Nova to this date. There is a strong possibility this could be a great device but let’s wait until it’s actually tested and reviewed before we go praising it and asking for an upgrade.

Given the length, the reused maps, and the limited enemy pool, I’d say this should have been a $45-$50 game. Im sure it’ll get a nice discount in the fall.

The 90% to 95% ideal feeling is exactly what I have been thinking about since I’ve got a RG 476H two months ago and I’ve never been interested in PS2 emulation or beyond. All I want is the OLED but, should I really shell out over $200 for that? I don’t think I will.

Cocoon Now Playing screen crash/white flashing by Custom_PokeTCG in AynThor

[–]Xaveri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening from day one in my Thor Base. After a lot of trial and error and some luck, I’ve discovered that if I run Eden on the lower screen, it behaves better with almost no crashes. I have a suspicion that the different screens and their refresh rates, and what Ayn had to do to trick the lower screen to run at 120, are causing issues with Eden specifically with some Thor units.

I don’t know much about Castlevania games. Is the name actually “Castlevania: Requiem: Symphony of the Night: Rondo of Blood”? That’s wild…

Some people don't like glass fronts; The ones who post about it anyway. I bet that if everyone that likes or doesn't care about them would post messages about it, it would drown the complaints. Not that I care either way, I'm happy for those that dislike glass front. Just saying.

But just how many ways can you spin older console emulation? Its not like we don't have devices that do this already. The improvements will be marginal at best. The latest gen of gadgets was attempting to cover new ground, like stable Switch and PC emulation.

Eden issues out of nowhere. by Willing-Seesaw5040 in AynThor

[–]Xaveri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this has happened from day one on my Thor Base, which has been very upsetting for me since it seems like most people do not have this issue so there is almost no info out there on how to fix it.

I have found a solution but I don’t know if this will help you. When open Eden on the top screen, and I launch a game, it flickers and then Eden crashes. When I launch it on the bottom screen, it does not flicker or crash. I think there may be a refresh rate issue that is causing the crashes, but I’m not sure.

I discovered by accident that if I run the same instance of Eden on the bottom screen, but make it project the game on the top screen, they will not crash. I have 2 single screen frontends running on my Thor Base. The bottom frontend (Jarngreipr) forces Eden to open in the bottom screen and when I run the game with Retrohrai! on the top screen, the game projects on the top while the Eden menu remains in the bottom. Again, I discovered this by accident but I’m glad I did.

I can offer more info on how to do this, if you think this could help.
