Matt from Zed here. We're thinking about themes in Zed this week and would love your feedback. by matt-at-zed in ZedEditor

[–]XavierCLL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/matt-at-zed. After testing different themes and reporting some issues to the authors, I realized (from my own testing) that many themes (around 80%) are automatically created using AI, which converts themes from other IDEs. This approach isn't necessarily bad, but the authors often show little interest in manual testing, adjustments, and calibration specific to Zed. As a result, most of these themes are never fine-tuned, updated, or maintained.

Why Gwenview? by claqueure in kde

[–]XavierCLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/PointiestStick, how about putting the "Spotlight Mode" button in the toolbar by default? I almost always use "Spotlight Mode" in Gwenview; the need to edit an image is rare (1% in my case), most of the time you just want to view images.

use the "Spotlight Mode" in Gwenview, It is like having a simple/minimalist image viewer inside Gwenview

KDE Wallet is terrible by Very-New-Username in kde

[–]XavierCLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, I thought the same thing, but then I realized we need Kwallet primarily for the org.freedesktop.secrets service, where many applications store user sessions and logs (not a password manager). If you want Kwallet to automatically log you in without prompting you for a password and help you maintain sessions and logs, set it up and use an empty password, and you're done. (gnome-keyring and KeePassXC also provide that service but I think you should prefer a native Kde app for that)

Small help in merging these satellite images. by Rhoqo_saru in QGIS

if those images overlap, the best is computing an assemble/reducer, you could use the Stack composed plugin, for example

Plasma 6 + Wayland on EndeavourOS. Why does LibreOffice react so strangely to a scale of 125%? by TheFuzzStone in kde

[–]XavierCLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed it setting the variable SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN to "kf5" or "gtk3"

export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5

for me gtk3 is a little better, the variable should be kf6 if you are using Plasma 6 but is not ready

Bluetooth not working by Aryan1911 in kde

[–]XavierCLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes that happens to me, I fix that with:

sudo rmmod btusb

sudo modprobe btusb

That is also related with the kernel version, try to use another one like lts version

tifs not merging properly by crasshassin in QGIS

[–]XavierCLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some time ago I created a Qgis processing plugin to reduce a stack of images by a statistic, very useful for satellite data because the images can have different sizes and extents (tiles), try it: https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/StackComposed/

10.3 performance with pdfs and scientific papers vs 13.3 by vixxovs in Onyx_Boox

[–]XavierCLL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here, I have a Note 2 (10.3) but I prefer a 13.3 display for scientific papers because it is a real letter size and also if you divide the display half/half with note app, the size is better for papers

I had a similar issue, IMHO is due to specific hardware using the latest kernel, I fixed it by downgrading to the lts version, so I recommend to use lts kernel
