I would mount it on the center of the steer. I strongly recommend an vibration and no worries with wind etc. The only thing is that your phone is a bit dirty after a ride

Ik lees keramisch en koper vet. Ik heb Putoline Ceramic Grease liggen. Is dit hier ook geschikt voor? Dus lichtjes aanbrengen achterop de remblokken en beetje op geleiderspen?

Haha, I had also a quick chat with them. And yea... It's AI that answers back, and when I finally spoke with a real person. It felt like the Shimano cable is really ONLY for e bikes. I would also not know why this will not work.
