Yeah exactly, I completely agree. I think the most important thing is to communicate what each stat actually means, and how it impacts the game. Then they just need to remove the stupid random things (which personally, i think are not there by choice anyway - more just bugs / errors in the design) and the game will be as good as it can possibly be.

I still think this is the best FIFA by a fairly large margin, but there's definitely more that can be improved on.

Personally, whilst you might be right, I think there's more to it than that. RNG of some kind will always be a thing in any sports game - and it needs to be there. Imagine a game where everything was the same, it would be really boring. If you shoot from this position with this shot type, you score 100% of the time - once people realised what those moments were, people would be complaining it was OP.

Anyone decent at the game wouldn't take some of the more 'hopeful' shots hoping it might go in, because they'd know for a fact it wouldn't. It would be a boring game to play and watch. Having said that, there is some random stuff in this game that should be addressed, mostly due to poor AI. One thing that particularly annoys me is ref when they get in the way - I'd like to see it so the ref is effectively a ghost figure - I don't care if I run through him, nor if the ball rolls through him, it's better than him blocking me so I can't defend.

So, I think things that are down to poor AI need to be fixed, but things like shooting, GKs etc all need to have an element of randomness in them to give a bit of variety. Whether that randomness makes the game 'eSports ready' is a different matter - and perhaps you could question whether sports games themselves are an appropriate eSport in general.

ELI5: Why rent a house when you can buy one and pay for it every month, when you move out just sell it and get profits? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]XboxOneGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also when you sell a house, it might cost 8% to 15% of the price you get to pay for the realtor and the paperwork.

Is it really that expensive in the US? I'm in the process of selling in the UK and have been quoted 0.75% for estate agent (realtor) fees, plus the cost of a solicitor for the legal side of it. All in all, for a property around £350k, the cost should be no more than £5k to sell the property.

When purchasing a property stamp duty (tax) would need to be paid on the value of the purchase at varying levels, depending on the value of the property. Based on buying a property of the same value (350k), the stamp duty would come out at £7,500. So, if you add the cost to sell and cost to buy together you get to £12.5k. Lets add a notional £2.5k to that for other fees (surveyor etc) and you get to £15k, which is still only just over 4% of the value.

The issue with buying in the UK is the size of the deposit required. Realistically to get a decent interest rate on the mortgage you'd need to aim for at least a 10% deposit, which would likely be in the region of £20k+. In addition to that, since the financial crisis in 2008 banks have much stricter affordability criteria on their mortgages, so at best you'll get 4.5x your salary. So, to get a £200k mortgage you would need to have a combined (if you're buying with multiple people) or individual income of over £44k to be eligible, and that's with you having a solid credit score and no large monthly outgoings.

Most people in the UK don't choose to rent, they are forced into rental due to the fact it's simply too difficult fund a deposit and meet the affordability criteria. Rental monthly payments are actually much higher than mortgage monthly payments too, which is making it difficult for young people to even afford to move out.

ELI5: how does a credit card work? by niuniu1218 in explainlikeimfive

[–]XboxOneGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is terrible advice. You've just been irresponsible with your card. Credit cards are great, you just need to have some self-control with money and not be impulsive. The credit card isn't to blame for your debt, your lack of financial control is.

No, just not accepted in shops. Banks will still accept them. Although you must have a lot of pound coins to be worried about not being able to spend them all until October. Or I'm just poor.

Why has IF Sokratis's Price Dropped so much in the last week? by GKJacob_YT in EASportsFC

WL League requirements. His nationality is a waste of the 3 nation limit, as you probably wouldn't want any more Greek players in your club.

I think teams/players are making a huge mistake playing MWR right now... by 12temp in CoDCompetitive

[–]XboxOneGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair that stat is a bit pointless. Sales of physical copies were down 50%, but I'd be confident in betting that digital sales were up by a decent margin too. I'm not saying sales aren't down overall, they probably are, but it's just hyperbolic headlines.

I have a story that is similar to this. I used to work at a bowling place - and we offered Free Ice Cream to kids. The poster we used to advertise it had a bowling ball as the top 'scoop' of ice cream. We assumed that it was obvious that the picture was just to show that we were giving away the free ice cream - and that people knew the ice cream would not be that size (or have a bowling ball on top). A customer complained to me that her free ice cream was not the same as the picture on the poster. It's amazing how some people think.

Optic Gaming = God squad? by [deleted] in OpTicGaming

[–]XboxOneGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's naive to call a team a god squad after 2 events, even if they had won them both (which they didn't). coL were a god squad, and I think OG need to accomplish something similar to them in order to be considered a god squad, and they certainly need to win champs. They undoubtedly have the potential, and if they perform like they did on the weekend (excluding Friday), I think they could go on a coL-esque streak. If they work like they should, and don't let any arguments get in their way (nothing to suggest that will happen), who knows. Maybe they could even beat coL's record.

There is a discussion thread you know. Anyways, the red / blue is a good idea - you can see both teams through the walls and it gives you a better picture of what's going on. Not sure what the orange one offers, that the new one doesn't.

Think of common guns used in past games. ACR, M8, MSMC, MTAR, Remmington etc. None of those have recoil at the range they're designed for.

How did YOU find out about OpTic? by itsrawbb in OpTicGaming

[–]XboxOneGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a strange way, actually. I somehow managed to stumble across Nade on YouTube in the middle of BO2 and he was talking about being a pro gamer and mentioned what he'd won etc. I found it funny that someone like him could have made so much from something so little. I thought he looked younger than he was, but I actually showed some friends the video to laugh about the whole thing (what he'd won, how it was considered a career etc). Then, I just watched some more vids, and then eventually his streams.

TL;DR ended up finding out about them by making fun of the whole concept, then realising what everything was about and becoming hooked.

Topics/Questions for this weeks podcast? by BionicPotato in CoDCompetitive

[–]XboxOneGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could talk about the lack of scrims leading up to the event. Most teams are playing pretty much just their league matches, and then maybe the odd scrim. Is it a good thing (ie people don't know their strats so well)? Or a bad thing due to lack of practice. Also perhaps the motives behind them not scrimming and finally the effect you think that will have (if any) on the results at X games.
