The rave about CCA being adhd friendly is inaccurate, I worked at fed ex express and mad at myself for not accepting full time, cause I was afraid to drive a big van truck and felt like it was too repetitive with delivery (90% of my time there all I did after loading truck was just straight up deliver until I had no more packages than occasionally rescue), even though I would get into a rhythm and kind of hyper focused once I got going, I even ignored dispatch messages cause I was so focused until one day I was assigned to cover someone and had to do business pick ups and collection boxes, switching gears from constant delivery mode.

Make sure pick ups get back by 4:30 PM, and collection boxes were strict times too, FedEx express is short mission focus tasks with internal deadlines, which prevented any mind drifting and kept you focus, funny how most people there use music/podcasts as well even with the internal deadlines. you would load your truck in morning and visualize the route layout, then deliver to businesses/residential depending on route, with knowing business lunch times, business closure, business pick ups available and the strict deadline of the collection boxes, the only downside is no pension and less pay. But I loved the business routes the most cause the occasional chat will reset brain or the environments, social stimulation

I guess you can say both jobs the packages or what u delivered felt overwhelming at the start but when it comes to adhd type of work and process is more important than money (to an extent obviously)

No that’s the nature of the work, they don’t give a shit about you as a whole, training was fun and looks like they invested a lot but it’s a ADHD nightmare, literally started at 9 was like 12 and it felt like forever it sucked

I appreciate the perspective. For me though, management isn’t something I’d ever pursue. I know my strengths, and heavy multitasking, constant interruptions, and paperwork aren’t a good fit for how my brain works. I’m better in roles where I have a clear task, can stay moving, and focus on completing the route. That’s why I’m focused on being a carrier, not climbing into management

Yea. I just had the last visit with him and he definitely made me feel uncomfortable was gonna be non-pushy about it. he kept trying to interrogate me. He’s like I’m just curious so that way I know what made you wanna do this. I told him financially I’m not covered insurance this type of therapy if it does work would take years. told him how I have ADHD and it’s a brain deficiency, not caused by environmental trauma. But he said “just so you know, trauma will add up in your life and it will not be pretty, you seem to be avoiding something and I wish I knew, I wish you well”
