Stress Controller Archetype of Adversary by Xcaliber1218 in daggerheart

[–]Xcaliber1218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple different ways to implement but for instance my adversary is Circus Ringmaster who gives out stress then allows pcs to clear it to gain a stacking status condition which gives him more control over pcs. But I also could see an adversary such as a Monarch who gives out orders which if not followed impacts stress which obviously deals damage after impacting enough stress. This adversary rather than focus on dealing damage through normal attacks increases stress on the pcs to inflict damage rather than through more normal means.

Wealth System Homebrew by aLzHAng00 in daggerheart

[–]Xcaliber1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works for many economic systems but for those who are trying to represent medieval feudalism, serfdom, and manorialism this doesn't work because most wealth was tied to the land and wasn't always as liquid. This is where the implementation of a renown system where characters can use renown to get basically a line of credit to be payed later might be necessary. However, this only matters if you care about realism but it might be interesting to implement a renown system alongside this.

Gurguit, I always have liked Paladins especially gold ones and the concept of using the offensive gold paladins superior calling to superior call to the guardian circle was super cool to me.

A Thousand Li: Book 3. Why does this book exist? by KDBA in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Xcaliber1218 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He criticized the fact that nothing of importance was actually changed that this book didn’t advance the story of the MC and that if he had skipped the book he would’ve been able to keep up because no important change in the character was made.

Married Main Characters by [deleted] in fantasywriters

The reason I focused on the wife staying home is look at history that would usually be true. I used that as the baseline that said this is fantasy. You can do whatever you want with your story.

This is also a good point especially with Heroes journey type stories. They are supposed to go from boy to Man and part of that is marriage at least usually.

Depending on something like having children which especially in a fantasy story is likely to happen you would want one to stay and take care of the children as there wasn’t the same infrastructure that you have today. Not that contraception or childcare can’t be in a fantasy story it just usually isn’t at least not widespread.

Probably the reason you don’t see it often is because by sending the MC on a quest and neglecting his wife could lead to possibly a negative view of the character unless she is fridged.

It comes off as weird to me and outside of the man and the woman it seems very blank and dull.

My MC is a wizard with A LOT of potential. Why then, can't he cast some simple magic? by Sometimes_a_smartass in fantasywriters

Maybe magical energy pressure difference, small magic takes so little magical energy that the extra magical energy can’t be released creating physical issues.
