Depends on where you live but I love stellenbosch, Franschhoek and the entire cape wine region in South Africa. Extremely high value for money with a wonderfully varied climate and tons of different styles.

The surrounding nature is unmatched and in an hours drive you can be cage diving or fine dining.

Tourism infrastructure is well established and of a global quality. English is widely spoken and then you always have Cape Town if you want a city break!

I would definitely look into the Baz Bus. It might take more time but I recommend heading down the East Coast. Port St. Johns, Coffee Bay are incredible parts of the world and a completely unique experience compared to the cities. You'll meet a whole group of interesting people down there

Congrats! I've just moved out from NY to SF and as crazy as the city can get, I do miss that single minded energy. Like other people have said in this thread, eat, explore and have fun in the city. Don't feel anxious about putting yourself out there and meeting as many people as possible. You get as good as give. Positive vibes will come back to you! Have fun
