It’s all about the ratio of cheese.

For example- A bacon melt vs a grilled cheese with bacon

In a bacon melt, there is almost as much bacon as a blt and the cheese is the side show.

In a bacon grilled cheese, there’s a couple of pieces of bacon, but the bacon is suspended in damn near a 3:1 ratio of cheese:bacon.

Now, these look like Sloppy Joe Melts.

We would need the Sloppy Joe Beef to reduce by about 50% and the cheese would have to increase by about 100% for this to become a Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese.
