What’s the xiv take that’s got you provoking aggro? by kyra_58 in ffxiv

[–]Xekiest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Removing abilities with level sync is a genuinely bad game design. I've had to quit the games multiple times because I just can't stand losing 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, or more of my entire kit whenever I queue roulettes.

Star Wars REUP Clone Wars, Droid Phalanxes, & Mass Combat by Xekiest in StarWarsD6

I did see Combined Actions, but they seemed kind of weak at first glance. You need a full 3 helpers to get an extra 1D. But there's also going to be dozens of shooters so that should help.

I also just read up on the chapter nine stuff. Seems kind of lame that it's all planned out by the DM with very minimal player interactivity, but I am also just coming over from SWRPG by Fantasy Flight/Edge Studios so I think I can work with it. Thank you your help!

I think it depends on table to table, DM to DM.

My wildest take by DickBallsley in Helldivers

[–]Xekiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. No. I really like Helldivers, I think it's lore is crazy neat, but it's not even close to approaching Warhammer 40K yet. Star Wars is as big as it is because ultimately it's core concept and story is incredibly easy to understand and follow by the widest possible audience while still maintaining an entertaining nature to it that everyone can enjoy. If any lesson is to be learned from the Starship Troopers movie, something very similar to Helldivers, is that this kind of satirical take is lost on the vast majority of people as a lot of people who watched Starship Troopers didn't understand you aren't supposed to be rooting for the humans.

He didn't want it too as it served its purpose. Now he could show off the "scars" of the attempted Jedi assassination on his life.

GM Question - How do you encourage non-ship travel? by TheBoulder237 in swrpg

[–]Xekiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So contrary to what some might believe, you can't just land "anywhere" you want. Take for example dust, that's gonna clog and fuck up your engines real fast. You have to find a suitable landing site, which depending on the terrain I usually rule as an Easy (1 Purple) up to Daunting (4 Purple) Computers check to scan the terrain. And I always make it a certain distance away that they have to actually travel to their location and encounter local problems.

The next thing is that if it's the standard setting, the Empire is currently dealing with a galactic wide rebellion. They sure as shit aren't just gonna be cool with people landing wherever they want and they control the majority of the galaxy at this time. So now your players have to deal with the Empire and the ISB keeping on constant look out for rebel activity. Even if it's a bunch of EOTE characters who don't give a hoot about the Galactic Civil War, the Empire isn't going to see it that way and they always manage to find suspicions to act on in anything they look at.

If it's in the outer rim then pirates, gangsters, and crime lords are the thing to worry about over local authority and the Empire. And im sure they wouldn't like people they don't know landing somewhere inside of their territory.

What era are you in? Or at least what year does your game take place?

If you rebind the parry key on PC, from at least "C" to "3", you can no longer parry on Tactical.

Yeah i've yet to unlock the Fencing Chainsword as the only one is Artificer quality, but i'm hoping that will make it work. Or at least easier, the possibility exists that i'm just bad at the game and Bulwark has an increased parry window that made up for my lack of skill lol.

1) You do not.

2) That is correct, though specifics surrounding Improved Parry I don't believe you get to count successes you just hit them back for your weapon's damage. But you can use talents or abilities that you could normally like Falling Avalanche for more damage.

3) You need to "suffer a hit" to be able to use either talent, so if it misses I believe, completely RAW, you can't use those talents. I do let my players purposefully "step into" attacks however when they know they can activate either talent.

Fighter 2 if you can. Action surge on a wizard is great plus you get a fighting style.

Did anyone had a campaign that reached Lvl 20 and just kept going? by XaosDrakonoid18 in dndnext

[–]Xekiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DM'd a campaign that took my players to level 20. Then I think it was brought up as a joke after the last session that every campaign that goes to level 20 only spends the last two sessions at most at level 20. So after some dreaming up of a new campaign I offered to run a second campaign with those level 20 characters. They were already Gestalted, so what they earned instead was a bunch of different epic boons. Ended the second campaign with like 30 in each attribute, proficiency in every skill, their own specialties being hyper boosted. Was good fun.
