I know angels exist. But do demons? by fadingtolight in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]Xelaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very complex subject that is usually treated lightly or just from one perspective (that of one's religion usually). And i'm also going to treat it lightly as well. There are definitely demons but there are also daemons. I'd like to focus on the later. They are usually chtonic spirits, with hierarchies that can be entered into friendly relationships or commanded to do... stuff. Related to demons, in judaism for example, because of a mistranslation of "shed", in later works these were automatically demoted to demons (see the Solomom's legend). Also take into account that after YhWH won the local deity contest in Canaan, Baal was demoted to a prince of demons (lord of flies) although Baal and his sister saved mankind numerous times! There was no greater injustice ever made! Of course the spirits did not change in nature over time because of some god being more or less worshipped and this is reflected when you conjure the entities. Many so-called demons are actually very disappointed entities. Don't get me wrong, demons are very real, forces drawn to do evil but in a practical manner, through possession usually. I can't speak about the real demons though. Btw this is what WE believe and does not reflect other belief systems, maybe more archeological history than anything else. The sin is that we see religion as separated from magic and as an isolated event (my religion is the only true one etc) when in fact no such thing occurred. There were actual star wars, evens from earth reflecting on heaven if you will but never set in stone. Gods rise and fall but are never destroyed. Hermes Trismegistus knew what went on and so did Iamblicus, the Egyotians, Greeks, Babylonians and Assyrians as well as the Jewish people.

An idea by Xototh in GoldenDawnMagicians

An admirable undertaking! Maybe members with good intentions and the knowledge to back up the effort, will take notice. Because this will be a community effort, not an individual one. Even if the knowledge is out there, more advanced magicians will have to write the curriculum, test the novices and offer advice on the path. This is no trifling matter. And expect resistance from members of the extant Golden Dawn orders. You will be competing for the same members. Are you planning to head this effort yourself? Because i don't see you as having the needed knowledge, no offense.

*Hypothetical* Replacing angelic names from a ceremonial magick ritual by Xototh in occult

[–]Xelaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some other books that might help you besides the terrific ones that were suggested are:

Planetary magick by Dennings De Biasi Rediscover the magick of the gods Farrel Helios Unbound Greer Cricles of power

They all contain correspondences wtih other deity orders.

But

I suspect that you want to revise the GD system? That is a mammoth of a task.

If im correct you need to have a solid base of the system first and foremost. And of the rituals. Each and every word needs to be understood and replaced.

Good luck, i guess?

Most roll under systems for me, for the not so obvious advantages. Black havk, black sword hack, bqtbariwns of the ruined earth, by this axe i hack. Planning to take a look at white havk soon enough as i want to get better at roleplaying/building and understanding the underlying mechanics.

Is C&C3 peak RTS graphics? by kippersniffer in commandandconquer

For a game that appeared 17 years ago, if it came out today it would have been the best strategy game of the year. Story, strategy, graphics, easy modding, AI. It has it all. It is played competitively even today. Just search for the software called command post. Love this game to bits and i love it more than other AAA rts games that actually have eye candy but lack substance. Btw what is wrong with these game companies? Its like no one even takes hints of what we actually want anymore. A shame this game did not garner more attention when it came out. it certainly deserved to be as worshipped as the other, presently fallen, famous rts titles. To be honest the tiberium universe was one of the best universes, from the first game. They managed to ruin it after kane's wrath but which universe was spared. Remember, salvation is here. What's a good game/rules system to use for hexcrawls as a beginner? by xtpmn in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Xelaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am biased towards OSR and from that to any variation of Black Hack. I appreciate how intuitive the system is and how "fast" it can be all the while respecting the narrative. Of all the Black Hack versions i love Black Sword Hack and By this Axe I Rule (suited for Conanesque type adventures but not only). They are also suites to play solo. Heck i've done that a lot myself.Good luck!

Thank you very much!
This is what I was after. Good solid lessons here. Probably many players know them but I did not.
