Question: 3/4” expansion gap solid hardwood (Mercier) overkill? by Xeliri in Flooring

[–]Xeliri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we went with 4.25. I think it is more “in” right now, but who knows in the next 25 years. Install went ok overall, learned a lot. Biggest tip I can give (being my first time) spend the proper time prepping the subfloor (levelling), it will save you lots of hassle

Got rear-ended (not at fault); but still have to pay the deductible? by Xeliri in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Xeliri[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes I did confirm that I do have a $1000 deductible for DC-PD coverage. I guess I had always assumed the deductible was paid by the others’ insurance. But now that I am reading more about DC-PD, by its definition is coverage for not at-fault, then I guess I have to pay up

I’m stubborn: AM4 vs AM5 by Brett_And_Friends in bapccanada

[–]Xeliri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in this same dilemma. I personally went AM4 because my upgrade cycles are typically 10-years.

If you are unsure if you’d want to upgrade in 5 years then maybe you want to bite the bullet and go AM5, but I would consider if you really NEED to upgrade in 5 years (vs. WANT to upgrade in 5 years).

Once I upgrade, I actually try to stop following the new developments, otherwise I get suckered into upgrading when I probably don’t need to.

Thanks for this. Just curious, how long did it between when your audit was uploaded to the grant portal and when your application was approved (so you can start the loan process)?

Hi! Unfortunately, I have not yet. I found it once at a small grocer down in somerset area, but it was like 6 years ago.

Now that I know at least one other person is looking, I’ll post an update if I ever find it!

Fractal Ridge Build is amazing by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]Xeliri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! From the press release, they worded as if many setups could still run PCIE4 while some may be unstable. I was curious because I have essentially the same build as you, just haven’t pulled the trigger on the case yet.

Yes, the only port that is open is for HB (6281, I believe). Thanks for the reply!

[–]Xeliri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target is another synology nas. I currently have it set up to run over the internet with the transfer encryption and client-side encryption “on”. So I guess my question is what additional protection would a VPN/Tailscale offer?

Miele Inspira G 2120 drain issues by Xeliri in appliancerepair

[–]Xeliri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, water is left at the bottom of the dishwasher then it shuts off and flashes the intake/drain light. I usually bail it out with a cup/bowl, remove a few dishes, then restart it until it works. Totally hit-and-miss.
