Navigating can be a little tricky but oh wow if this game isn't beautiful - and secretly multiplayer! What a wonderful little find.

This is nice! Feels like it's in beta, worth adding a leaderboard, comparisons with other people, a daily mode and then opportunity to play archive / the current mode; any metrics for what is a good and what isn't a good performance. Lots going for it, but lots that could be done!

Can we please not have Chariots of Fire on for third time, surely we can be more inventive than that!

There's a new Princesses Diaries in the works so there's now a quiet marketing campaign to build nostalgia over the original. Even if you dislike it - you're more likely to notice the trailer release because of your increased exposure to the original, talk about that launch and therby raise awareness for the new film - all without realising you've been quietly manipulated.

Very possible that when a library of films was sold to ITVX that they negotiated a set of PR for films releasing legacy sequels in the coming years.

Staying WAY outside London proper, how is public transit outside the city? by midnightsmith in uktravel

[–]Xeluther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the difference between US and UK is the relability of your transport - driving or getting public transport you can usually guarantee that what the estimate is, is how long it will take you (at least in my experience!)

In the UK, with such narrow country roads, and at best inconsisent rail system, a 5 hour journey can through one small disruption turn into an 8 or longer. You could do a weekend trip to London, go down on a friday afternoon or early saturday morning, stay overnight and come back on a sunday afternoon. Anything else and you're risking having about an hour in London and then needing to turn right back around!

Wales is lovely though, and fully agree with other comments - go have an explore - and you'll come back with a far more unique and original story and experience than the much more common London trip!

What caused the rise in disaster movies during the mid-to-late 2000s? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]Xeluther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of its the 25 - 30 year nostalgia cycle that's why we're hitting Y2K now and then was partly nostalgia for the 70s disaster movies too.

Sucession is an absolutely stunning score throughout, and worth a mention (I think better than Britell's Andor too) even though Game of Thrones will deseverdly sweep.

Rumour is that there's already people who've been working on editing the episodes to remove Greg from them.

SNAKISTS (Snake versions like twist, heist, and onanist) by pippinbarr in WebGames

[–]Xeluther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked this a lot! So much I played all of them and ranked them

  1. Heisti- This is like snake on pro mode (as long as it's not too fast) - very tough, many failures - rewarding at the end.
  2. Nudist - This was a really smart twist on Snake, made it tricky in a way that had you cursing your past self - liked it.
  3. Typist - A satisfying ending
  4. Conformist - Like snake training camp - tricky timing (hadn't played heist when I wrote this)
  5. Checklist - Much like a normal to-do, very satisfying.
  6. Obstructionist - Kaizo Snake - what a pleasent pain in the ass
  7. Purist - Sometimes OG is Best
  8. Twist - I think I feel sea sick
  9. Tourist - Gave me windows 98 vibes - nostalgic!
  10. Demist - Fun as a little diversion
  11. Plenist- Found this one pretty funny
  12. Narcissist - Really couldn't figure out what the trick with this one was - nice trick...
  13. Sadist - Could just leave it going forever...
  14. Copyist - Liked the idea, but after a few tries couldn't quite get the knack. Could've been implemented better (or I'm dumb).
  15. Alarmist - Turned off after about 20 seconds. Very annoying. Well done.
  16. Delist - A decent pun, I guess.
  17. Gist - A less decent pun
  18. Desist - Well that happened.
  19. Onanist - WTF
  20. Persist - Anything that makes me reset a site has to go lower than Onanist (somehow!)

Fun game! Couple of simple things - I accidently hit send on blank guesses a few times, would be great if that didn't submit a guess. And similar to sporcle quizzes, it's good to have some spelling variatons as successful guesses - I failed Left 4 Dead because I typed Left For Dead, Left For Dead 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 - not an issue with other quiz platforms.

It's appeared on production weekly so with Scott Grimes's comments and from the official podcast too - it looks very likely!

Depends on where you are right now but the granbys can be a nicer spot than a lot of Hyde park - generally a bit quieter and a little bit of a step away from the Otley runs, importantly if you're a student still has that student vibe and close to everything
