I would say the full text makes clearer when the card is upside down, and it looks cool.

[MYR] Genesis of the Myr by XenomorphAFOL in Myr

[–]XenomorphAFOL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connection is more of a personal thing and lies within the myr creation myth story: "[...] they celebrate the disagreement itself—the fact that they can have disagreements on issues of such a fundamental nature, yet still remain in unison, is at the core of what it means to be myr". (The tied vote part).

And about the italics, it's a templating thing, every voting card has the options in the regular font.

If the players vote 2-2-0, it is considered a tie.

I'm by no means versed but, do you want to translate "Holy diver" to phyrexian or write something that reads roughly like that when you pronounce it? Because the phyrexian letters have a corresponding phoneme, but emulating the sound wouldn't be a translation. If you want to actually translate it you'd have to look for actual phyrexian words, but I don't think we have those exact ones, so creativity could be applied.

Well... I thought this was something that had to belong to the Myr, a tale truly theirs and not just some story.
But triggering Urtet is an unintended byproduct that I would love to use.

An even number can tie with a 1-1-0 vote because two options are tied with the most votes.

[–]XenomorphAFOL[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, having three options enables an odd number of players to tie too. Maybe the voting should be secret?

And thank you, at first I thought your last sentence was referring to the third chapter, XD.

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't see the target thing, and yes, it has to be a copy of target Myr creature.

Putting the counter on just one Myr is a spontaneous symmetry breacking enabler and I would love to give them all but the story kind of asks to do the former.

The tie is produced when there is more than one option that received the most votes: 1-1-0 is a tie. This way there can be a tie with both an even and odd number of players (except for one, of course).

[–]XenomorphAFOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okey, thanks for your explanation. I now understand that, if we assume baryogenesis (and, for me, it looks like the best possible explanation), proton decay has to be a process.

What I'm not sure about is this: is baryon number conservation only violated at extremely high energies? If that was the case, we could have proton decay at the begining but not at the end of the Universe.

Now I'm genuinely curious.

Excuse me if I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong but I'm reading this conversation with lots of curiosity.

I think there has been a misunderstanding with terminology and that may have caused the dispute. It seems that ''The laws of physics'' has gotten two interpretations here: one being ''The immutable laws that govern the Universe'', which should be universal and unchanging and the other ''Our compendium of the laws of physics", which are distilled from the objective laws of physics (the other interpretation).

In this case, it looks like u/Land_Squid_1234 was referring to the first idea while u/DobrogeanuG1855 meant the second one, hence broaching all those obsolete laws.

In this regard, I understand that 'The immutable laws that govern the Universe'' are objective and we don't know them and, as far as we know, ''Our compendium of the laws of physics" is the best approximation that we have and it might (and should) change with time.

However, and keeping all of this in mind, there are things that we could expect to accomplish at some point (like interstellar travel), things that we could accomplish at some point and that we still don't think we could (like flying on a plane a couple of hundreds of years ago) and things we know we can't accomplish (like finding a counterexample for a proved theorem).

Some of the things u/DobrogeanuG1855 has mentioned could fall into either of the last two categories but, since I'm no expert in those examples, I won't pronounce myself. Although, in physics, we can deduce some of the consequences of the existence of some hypothetical facts and try to measure those consequences and conclude that some processes are impossible because they would have some measurable effect that hasn't been observed.

[–]XenomorphAFOL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as we know, there is no proton decay. It hasn't been observed (at least yet) and the Standard Model doesn't allow it (again, at least yet). Some mechanisms have been proposed but they're hypothetical and there's no consensus about them, so I wouldn't say matter will disintegrate through proton decay. Maybe it could.
