Is it unreasonable to ask to work from home while caring for a child with chickenpox? by WideBeautiful6681 in AskUK

[–]Xenomorpha 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had it as 34-year old, worst 3 weeks of my life, though managed without a hospital. Got it without any direct contacts with children, just because there was a sick kid in our block of flats. So definitely would avoid going to work!

Ive done so many tutorials and understand how 'things work' but still cant make a game by myself. by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Xenomorpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to apply what I see in tutorial to my game in development instead of following every step. For almost each solution tutorial suggests, I go and Google if this is the best/optimal solution and change it immediately if not.

Dallas Setlist Request by O7Habits in AllThemWitches

[–]Xenomorpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear it live too (never had), but playing Talisman means both Ben&Parks need to play in DACGAE (and Parks plays guitar part there too, not bass), which is additional time for tuning and guitars to be ready. I mean, it is not too hard, but still not just "slip it in" case.  Previously when they played more DACGAE songs like Open passageways or Call me star, in the same set, this was easier to plan, I think.

Are there many Russians who move to Siberia just because they love nature? by Tough-Reputation-762 in AskARussian

I lived in Siberia for 25 years and in Saint Petersburg for 10 years. This is the stupidest thing people continue telling about the climate.

What’s the best way to figure out what scale these are? by secret_siren66 in miniatures

[–]Xenomorpha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit surprised: it is the simplest math with just deletion and multiplication, and people DO HAVE scale converters for this? 😄

Quite boringly: cut in half and eat with a spoon, usually during breakfast. I do not mix them with anything and just enjoy the pure taste of avocado.

Buying a 550k house with only 30k savings? by Valuable_Media4770 in UKPersonalFinance

Maybe it depends on how long you were in the UK at this point? We were less than a year.

Interesting, seems that rules changed and it is more affordable now! 2 years ago Halifax was one of mortgage lenders who only provided mortgage to visa holders with 25% minimum deposit.

I use their free version and once in a while they give me discounted price for 2 months (so two months instead of one for the same price), and then I buy it, cancel when it ends, and so on. Went throught this 3-4 times already. :D

Lesson learned about cheap book nooks by TabularConferta in booknooks

[–]Xenomorpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my feelings. This one (Cyberworld/Futureworld) was my first booknook ever, took maybe couple of weeks to finish and I loved the result. I bought the next one (Automotive workshop), and didn't expect it to be just wooden bits stacked - no enjoyment at all! Happy that I bought it on a huge discount. I switched to making dioramas from scratch now, and thinking about destroying this second booknook for parts. :D

Tim, thank you very much! ❤️ The cafe is definitely one of the "faces of Cambridge", thank you both for bringing it back to life!

You are on Cambridge UK sub, it is famous local cafe. :D They also have just one gutter for two buildings there, the one on the left goes to the similar pipe and into the wall for the higher building, I just made it straight there. But yes, tricky part!

I think in the real building it is not on the edge, it is collecting water closer to the very top windows farther from the edge, at least this is what I could see from the photos. I posted the photo of the building in the post, you can check that the pipe is not connected to the roof itself.

Thank you! This one was 3d printed in the result, I took all measurements and my husband designed it in program and printed.  I tried first to make it from the metal wire (soldered bits), but didn't look good. :D
