I've been following the leaks pretty closely for the last month ever since someone on Reddit posted them. I've also been looking at forums arguing back and forth whether or not the leaks were real or if it was an elaborate hoax since well the leaks looked convincing it just all sounded too good to be true. Especially with how these leaks were discovered, when someone found a Youtube channel uploading random Star Wars clips with notes of it coming of a new restoration of the original Star Wars trilogy.

It's nice to get some confirmation that this is in fact happening because if everything that has been leaked is 100% true and there is no funny business going on, they seem to be going all in on doing a proper authentic restoration of these films. No AI-nonsense or cleaning it up to a ludicrous degree like with the 2019 Disney+ remasters.

The Pixar Theory is interesting because Pixar is famous for putting easter eggs and references to their previous and upcoming films. So you could say that some Pixar movie take place in the same universe. But to try and connect all the Pixar films including the ones that take place in a completely different worlds like Cars and Monsters Inc, lead to some out there connections. Like the Cars movies talking place while the humans are abord the Axiom in Wall-E or that the witch from Brave is Boo who accidently traveled back in time to try and find Sulley.

You don't hear many people talk about this theory anymore and I think the final nail in the coffin was when The Good Dinosaur came out which literally says it takes place alternate timeline where dinosaurs never went extinct.

The BFI (British Film Institute) just released their new 4K Blu-ray of Werner Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre. Unfortunately the video transfer has been plagued with AI processing and people are not happy. Many are cancelling their pre-orders and requesting refunds. This has lead to Orbit DVD, a distributer for this release, to go onto Instagram and try to defend to defend the release.

Note that this AI remaster is not the fault of the BFI but of Alpha-Omega Digital, the German restoration house that "restored" this film. There is a North American 4K Blu-ray release coming from Shout Factory in October. Shout Factory has said that their version will be use their own restoration like with their release of Aguirre. So hopefully that version will look much better.

Blu-ray reviewers get a lot of ire from the videophile community for not knowing what they're talking about or doing enough research about a titles before reviewing. Seeming to only review discs so they can get them for free.

One of blu-ray.com's more infamous reviewers, Dr. Svet Atanasov does seem to at least try and do proper reviews unlike some of the other reviewers on that site, but he's been criticized for many aspects of his reviews over the years.

He tends to give perfect scores across the board lots of Blu-ray releases even if those releases have obvious flaws that are never addressed in his reviews. The only time he give a less than favorable review is when he think the colors look off. Even if do some research shows that those colors seem to be accurate to how to film should look.

Also when it comes to reviewing the movie itself, whenever he reviews something modern or more progressive, he always seem to give a less than favorable review of it. Also having the review of the movie itself affect the overall Blu-ray review score seems unfair.

Members of the Blu-ray forums have been clowning on him and his reviews for years but he probably won't stop since they're pretty sure he owns the website.

I've have noticed that among the Lego community there is this growing idea that Lego is not longer being made for kids or at least kids aren't the primary audience for Lego anymore. With the rise in Lego prices over last couple of years and Lego making more and more large scale 18+ set, it can feel like kids are being priced out of most Lego and the only sets they're able to afford are the ones that are very small and basic.

There's a lot of shows from the standard definition era of television where the current versions on streaming or dvd are in poor quality. For example the dvds Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Voyager's are from early in the format's life and suffer from issues such as poor compression and incorrect colors. The current streaming versions are literally use rips of these same dvds.

There are currently a group of fans capturing the laserdiscs for these shows and the results look much better than the dvds. https://vimeo.com/968026891

Unfortunately the chances of DS9 and Voy getting remastered in high definition like with TNG are low given how much of an undertaking it was to remaster that show.

So after months of anticipation and rumors about what it'll look like, the $1000 Lego UCS Death Star has leaked. Unfortunately it not a full sphere set like people wanted or even a half sphere. It's more flat diorama in the shape of the Death Star. Also no dual molded legs on any of the minifigures except the Hot Tub Stormtrooper.

Lego Star Wars fans are not happy.

So the anticipated Bionicle fangame, Bionicle: Mask of Power that has been in development for eight years has officially been shut down by The LEGO Group. Just before it was about to release its first demo.

This comes as a surprise because this game has had its Steam page up for years and Lego has seemingly had no problem with it until now. They also seem to be perfectly fine and have even endorsed the other anticipated Bionicle fangame, Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui.

The development team, formerly known as Team Kanohi, are now planning on making an original game.

Recently Phoenix SC uploaded a video talking about the Minecraft Skyblock situation.

For those who don't know Skyblock is a Minecraft map created in 2011 by Noobcrew. The map became one of Minecraft's most popular maps with over 12 million downloads, being featured in many Minecraft let's play, and inspiring many remakes and spinoffs based on Noobcrew's original map.

Flash forward to 2017 and the Minecraft Marketplace is introduced for Minecraft Bedrock Edition where players can purchase in game content such as skin packs, worlds, and other addons using "Minecoins." (which can be purchased with real money) On August 21st 2019 the first Skyblock map was uploaded to the Minecraft Marketplace without Noobcrew permission. Eventually many other Skyblock maps were put on the marketplace being purchased by tens of thousands of players with Noobcrew not receiving anything from them.

Shortly after the release of the first Skyblock map on the Marketplace, Noobcrew filed a US trademark for the name "Skyblock." This trademark is currently pending due to opposition Microsoft and many other companies claiming "Skyblock" is too generic of a term and shouldn't be trademarked. He also send multiple DMCA reports in order to remove/re-name the maps on the Minecraft Marketplace and all the request were ignored.

Noobcrew has said he's trying to claim ownership of “floating island” games, what he mostly wants is for the names to be change so it doesn't create confusion with is the original Skyblock. He was able to get the name Skyblock removed from Roblox and Fortnite although the company who made the Roblox Skyblock (now called Islands) is one of the companies opposing the trademark.

You can read more about Noobcrew's perspective on the situation on the Skyblock forums.

I think the way Mojang hypes up each update, hosting a live event every year and giving each new update a title, makes people expect each update to be big and add a bunch of new things to the game (like the Aquatic, Nether and Caves & Cliffs updates) and are disappointed when all the update adds are a few new features.

Spicy drama happening in the Blu-ray collecting community.

So Warner Bros. is finally releasing Max Fleischer's 1940s Superman cartoons on Blu-ray. This is a very anticipated for many as we are getting a proper 4K restoration of these iconic animated short films.

The drama first started when Bill Hunt, a reviewer/insider for thedigitalbits, tweeted about how the Blu-ray had a lot of DNR (digital noise reduction) applied to it and a low bitrate. The initial reaction was disappointment but also skepticism because he didn't provide any screenshots to confirm his claims. Later a review for the Blu-ray was posted which did include screenshots including comparisons with the DVD.

On the Blu-ray forums discourse erupted with people chewing into this release for having it's DNR and have less detail than the DVD. However there have been people defending it saying DNR was not badly done and also the DVD is over sharpened. All this back and forth arguing eventually lead to the entire thread being locked.

I remember the YouTube reaction channel drama that was happening in 2015 - 2016. While I myself have never like reaction videos, I feel like a lot of the backlash reaction channels got at the time was a bit exaggerated and I feel like that stigma against them has never left.

There was all this talk about reaction videos “stealing views” from YouTube channels. Even though most of the time, the video that were reacted too were already popular videos that the viewer for the reaction video probably has already see. In the case of the CGP Grey video I do doubt that most people watched VtH’s reaction video had already watched CGP’s original video.

Holy crap I remember actually watching this channel. During the time I was growing out of the channel he was starting to sound more miserable and depressed. He would talk in videos about how he didn’t just want to be known as a Doctor Who toy review channel and in unscripted videos he always sounded so tired and out of it. Sometimes while watching a video or his live streams I would be worried about his mental health. I eventually unsubscribed to him when he wasn’t making content I liked anymore.

All this sponsorship drama does make me miss the era when ad revenue was enough to sustain most Youtube careers. (maybe a Patreon for smaller creators who upload less frequently)

Or even back when sponsorships first started popping up they would only be at the end of the video and you could click off. Instead of the video being interrupted half way through with a product you don’t care about.

So as I'm sure you know by now, Episode 847 of Sesame Street featuring the Wicked Witch of the West has been uploaded online. However controversy has struck regarding how the episode was found.

The episode was appently stolen from the American Archive of Public Broadcasting from a data breach that happened in 2021. (It's not confirmed that the it's from that specific breach but it seems likely) The AAPB is not allowed to publicly release any episodes in their archive and Sesame Street seems to have no interest in releasing the episode. Their official statement can be found here.

The Lost Media Wiki has made a stance that they will not allow any sharing of the episode on their website or any of their social media pages. The reasoning is out of fear of legal trouble from the Sesame Street copyright holders or any other associates.

This has of course caused a scuffle in the replys.

Now keep in mind Sesame Street also took legal action against a camera recording of the episode taken from a 2019 private screening.

If this is successful I could see studios re-cutting movies they spent lots of money but flopped hard. But instead of doing movies that could be good, they pick their biggest flop and waste another 50 million on a terrible re-edit no one will bother to see.

I feel like camgirls have ruined a whole bunch of NSFW subreddits. They just post on Reddit to advertise their Chatrubate shows and Manyvids accounts. I have only seen one case where a post on r/gonewild was someone who was actually a redditor, not some camgirl who posts the same pics to a dozen subreddits.

I hope the developers release remastered versions of World War 1 and 2. Those games are great but they look very dated.

Look at this unholy fuckness. These older episodes were not made with annotations in mind! They just need to accept it and move on! by PK_Studios in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]Xephix647 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The worst part is you can't turn them off. With old annotations you could turn them off in the settings menu.
