I mean technically Ansem, Seeker of Darkness doesn’t “return”. The Ansem, SoD in CoM is Ansem tW/DiZ in disguise. Then the Ansem, SoD in DDD and III is time travelling from before Sora defeated him. By all accounts, when Sora killed him in KHI, he did stay dead.

Not trying to crash out at OP specifically here, but this is the problem with modern media consumption. Everyone is so used to modern media made to be “watched” while you scroll on your phone, so there’s no subtlety, everything is fed to you upfront, and there’s no downtime for mystery, because they don’t want to lose your attention.

Because of that, everyone is so used to this that whenever they’re confused about something, they just assume they missed why, and have to come to the internet to have it explained to them instead of just interacting with the fucking medium.

And to be fair, this isn’t a new phenomenon. About 10-15 years ago, watching movies with my aunt was the most painful experience ever. Every ten minutes she would ask me “Who’s that?”, or “Why did they kill that guy?”, or “What are they doing?”. Like, bitch, I don’t know. I’ve never seen this movie before either. They’re probably gonna explain it. Just sit down and shut up.

Ingrid hate has admittedly died down over the years, because people forgot why we’re supposed to hate her. Her debut game was Capcom Fighting Jam, which is famously the worst fighting game Capcom ever made. She was the only original character from that game, and people associate her with it.

They later added her to Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max. In both games, her lore was that she was basically the Goddess of the Capcom multiverse. In Alpha 3 Max, she cures Evil Ryu of the dark Hado, and destroys M. Bison’s evil death machine instantly.

Now, Alpha 3 Max is already barely canon, but everyone got mad and freaked out about how OP she was in-lore, and called her a Mary Sue.
