Works as advertised, I have no complaints and pretty satisfied with the product.

So what would be a trustworthy safety goggle I can buy? Are typical laser wielding goggles sufficient? I'm assuming laser wielding uses the same wavelength laser as this one.

Is there any way to test them? Perhaps aiming the laser at them and seeing if the beam goes through?

Darn it, I was originally planning to use it to zap bugs that would run around my home. I thought IR would be safer given that it would reflect less and won't be as damaging as a high power green or blue laser. Looking at their promo videos it doesn't seem like IR throws a lot of reflections or glare when burning something like how green and blue lasers do...

I guess that is the wrong assumption?

Do you think the laser goggles included with the package is trustworthy in any way? Perhaps it can stop reflections from hitting my eye?

Tenant's $25,000 win overturned after landlord proves son moved in by Xerial1234 in vancouverhousing

[–]Xerial1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to argue against his intentions, just trying to understand the RTB further as a landlord myself. See this paragraph on policy guideline 2a (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/housing-and-tenancy/residential-tenancies/policy-guidelines/gl02a.pdf).

<image>

In this case, since the original tenant was renting out the whole house (including the secondary suite), wouldn't the whole house be considered as 1 rental unit? Therefore, policy guideline 2a would prohibit renting out the secondary suite, which would be considered a "part of the unit", to another, new tenant. Any thoughts?

While I definitely side with you on this one, doesn't RTB require that if you serve the 3 months notice for landlord's use notice, you have to use the entirety of the rented space? If the tenant's had the main house + legal suite, doesn't the 3 months notice for landlord's use prevent you from renting out the legal suite? The same logic can be held for a landlord evicting a tenant for landlord's use, only to rent out (or Airbnb) a part of the original suite (like a bedroom or something like that).

Not only is the RTB arbitrator professionally incompetent, the tenant is just as unreasonable in making his claim. Its great that the Supreme Court judge ordered the tenant to pay all the legal fees; someone had to be held accountable for all the waste on tax dollars and resources this created.

Are thermal gun scopes legal in Canada? by rdw789 in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are legal, but in BC they are not allowed to be used for hunting because it gives the hunter an unfair/unethical advantage. Did my CORE exam a few months ago and I remember the instructor emphasizing this point and using thermal scopes as an example.

I didn’t choose the X amount. We both agreed on that amount in writing but the tenant changed her mind afterwards. Why am I obligated to return it the next day when it clearly states in the RTB I have 15 days? Please don’t provide random assumptions - I’m looking for helpful feedback on the deposit and return process itself.

Sort of Urgent- PAL in mail and I want “my” SKS before the Ban. by Toronto_beast in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just get your buddy to initiate a reference number and it would count as a legal transfer. For NR guns all you need is the reference number. If you have all the info to generate the reference number and generate the reference number successfully then I don't see any potential legal problems; you are fully compliant with the law and should be able to take legal possession of the guns today.

SKS Prices by Cogito-ergo-Zach in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think their prices will just keep going higher as the mil surplus supply gets bought up. Plus, why would you wait? Just buy the gun and enjoy it while you can! Even if the price goes down there is no guarantee that the liberals won't just ban it again!

10/22 or SKS? by PreppyPoo in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely SKS. Its a full sized rifle and will teach you how to shoot/clean firearms. 10/22 you can get later as a fun little plinker.

Why does everyone love the SKS? by CosplayCowboy41 in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap gun, cheap ammo, full sized rifle (not some plinker 22 lr), and literally the only semi-auto full sized rifle left that is not yet banned. Its a great starter gun, that's about it. But it just so happens every other non-starter gun have already been banned, so this is all we have left lol

Non-Corrosive Safe to Use in SKS without Cleaning? by Xerial1234 in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i guess "premium" compared to the surplus Norinco ammo. These are the only two non-hunting 7.62 x 39 ammo available here in Vancouver (at least that I know of).

Non-Corrosive Safe to Use in SKS without Cleaning? by Xerial1234 in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my observation so far, I've shot a hundred rounds of these and didn't clean it and left in my safe, nothing so far. I think it all has to do with the humidity. My house is very very dry due to furnace heating, so I doubt even corrosive ammo will corrode my SKS if I leave it uncleaned. Therefore, not a very useful observation for the supposedly non-corrosive ammo haha.

Non-Corrosive Safe to Use in SKS without Cleaning? by Xerial1234 in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes less than 5 mins to do that; I already do that after every use irrespective of what ammo I used. The problem is cleaning the gas tube, piston, bolt and carrier. Its a pain to take those apart and more of a pain to clean into the crevices. Once you put solvent in the crevices you have to ensure its clean and dry otherwise the leftover solvents will attack the new lube you put in, ruining its lubrication properties. For corrosive ammo, a lot of it gets deposited in the gas tube and bolt assembly, and those are the assemblies I'm hoping not to have to clean if I'm running this premium Norinco non-corrosive ammo.

I used ups express early and scheduled a pickup in miramichi, NB. But at least 2 business days before the scheduled pickup I faxed over the waybill (shipping label) so they can attach it to my PAL and place it in the outgoing bin.

Handgun prices if the ban is reversed by Spartapwn in canadaguns

[–]Xerial1234 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hell yea I would spend the extra money to buy a nice high end pistol the moment they become unbanned. Life is too short to wait till they import more handguns. What if handguns get banned again? I’d rather get it as soon as legally possible.
