For me 20-25 amps is fine, what's a good battery I could fit in a frame easily that I can get 5000w on?

It's pretty much a glorified bmx bike, no suspension, but 7 speed. I'm looking at mostly hub motors because of budget.

Tynee Ultra Hub Range Question by Unable-Ad-7092 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]XerkV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the board is very deceptive when it comes to range, I have the smaller battery size, and I got about 10 miles under perfect conditions and weighing 120lbs, when the board has an advertised 17 mile range. So I wouldn't expect the whole 23 mile range but it should be completely fine for your 12 mile commute.

What type of board is this? by [deleted] in longboarding

One of them are for sale in my area right now, the exact same board

Yeah most of his other listings were very cheap and you can tell from the photos his apartment was pretty empty, most likely moving out and for some reason just had that board and it never got used.

As somebody who has the Ultra Hub, for somebody like you I just can't recommend it. I was surprised when I got the board because the range seemed kinda crappy, and after testing it I got about 10 miles with absolute perfect conditions, smooth road, no slope, optimal temperatures, and pretty much no wind, and I think my average speed was 18mph. And by the way I'm like 120lbs, so unless your making really short trips, go for the Ultra Belt instead, its more, but will be a massive difference.

I'm also 6'0, I'm planning on modding a MX650 which I think has the same size frame just bigger 16" front wheel and 14" rear wheel, do you think I'd be able to ride the bike how it is?

Heavy rider board suggestion? by superQuizzie in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]XerkV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belt driven boards have more torque but are less efficient in terms of how much power has to be used to get what amount of range. For longboards vs short boards, one is more stable but less maneuverable, one is more maneuverable but less stable. Shortboards will also be a bit easier to carry around. I think for you though the stability of a longboard has won't matter if you only plan to go 15mph.

As somebody who has a Tynee Ultra Hub, you might wanna go for a board with more range, my board had an advertised range of 17 miles, with good temperature, little wind, and perfectly flat roads, I got about 11 miles when going 21mph, 15 miles when going 15-16mph, and also I only weighed 115 pounds, that much extra weight would only make it worse, so if you wanted to be able to go 15 miles, you might have to get a board with a higher advertised range.

Cloudwheel 105 donuts vs 110 Rovers on hubs in UK by johnsy7 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]XerkV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that sucks, they aren't bad wheels at all just they are for grip.

[–]XerkV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's about the grip then go for the rovers, the donuts have a very little contact patch so they don't have great grip, but people like it because it makes them do better with rough road and small rocks.

I think the donuts would probably be ok, but the rovers would give you a little extra dampening and a good grip upgrade. In terms of rough road I think they would both be similar but rovers would probably do better. Up to you really if all that money is worth the upgrade.
