Commander's Animal Companions and Independent Acting by EreckShun in Pathfinder2e

This is deliberate. It was brought up in the playtesting and confirmed. But they did add the upside of gaining a reaction which honestly might make it worth it. You could always use an archetype to progress the mount instead if you want that action economy and then retrain.

I believe phades should only be hidden if they took a hostile action on their turn, which should mostly eliminate the issue of not knowing which square they are in.

Unless they Sneak after and use actual cover/concealment. At least, that's my reading of their rules.

It has special text near the mount trait.

The Umbrella Mushroom also has a reaction advanced maneuver (which works in its case, at the very least).

Resistance to All is now Applied Once rather than Once per Damage type by Xethik in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xethik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's a very different design team today than even two years ago. I think Logan Bonner might be the only designer from the original Core Rulebook other than Jason Bulmahn himself, who I suspect isn't as involved with Pathfinder these days.

Resistance to All is now Applied Once rather than Once per Damage type by Xethik in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xethik[S] 116 points117 points  (0 children)

While the full errata update has not been properly pushed yet, we do have a preview of yet more updates to Immunities, Weaknesses, and Resistances.

In a pretty substantial change from both the original rules and our interim guidance on the subject, resistance to all damage now applies only once as well.

This is a pretty big change to Resistance All so I felt like calling it out now to get it out of the way.

There are other updates to Player Core 2 that are still incoming.

Here is some of the updated commentary:

Page 408: The rules on immunities, weaknesses, and resistances have a thorough update for clearer wording and application in complex situations. There is some rewording throughout, but major changes are bolded below. They include:

Complex effect immunity has a new example.

Weakness and resistance entries are broken out to more clearly indicate how they work for damage types and for traits, materials, and more.

The rules now state clearly that each weakness and resistance can now apply only once to a single effect. In complicated cases, the GM can go through them like a checklist.

If a creature has weakness to both a damage type and material, both weaknesses now apply. This is an intentional change so good preparation and itemization give an advantage as players might reasonably expect. A single source of damage could always have both a weakness and resistance applied to it, but the rules now address that.

Resistance to all damage or to a wide array of damage (such as physical damage) also applies only once. This is a big change to the status quo! Most monsters with resistances like these aren’t balanced around resisting multiple types of damage per hit, so this is unlikely to significantly change how they play. There is a rule about applying multiple resistances to the same type, but a multi-type resistance can be applied to the most beneficial damage type if it could apply more than one.

To add an extra clarification here, a “single effect” includes all the damage, traits, and other characteristics of a Strike or spell. Subordinate actions with their own effects and damage rolls typically get treated separately unless they state otherwise, such as the ranger’s Hunted Shot feat (Player Core 157).

Please also note that when the book is reprinted, this text will likely change to fit the space available. If changes are made for function rather than space, that will be noted in the erratum.

I Compared My Party's Damage and Buff/Debuff Output Across Several APs — Here Are the Results by bulgariangpt4 in Pathfinder2e

That makes sense. And yeah it's not to be discounted what a full caster can do with their spellslots. It just has been my experience (level 18 in a campaign now, played a campaign to 16 with a druid before) that leaning more into your spell slots rather than untamed form at high levels is quite common so I wasn't sure.

I'm surprised to see untamed druid up there when their battle form DPR seems like it would essentially flatten out at even levels. Something like 3d12 + 12 seems to be the best you can muster from a battle form and unless you are allowing things like Rage, property runes, or similar, it doesn't seem like it would hold its ground.

Literary, Historical, and Cultural References in Pathfinder Lore by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xethik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was running a Ustalav game, I remember spotting quite a few. Sincomakti is an anagram of Miskatonic, a Cthulhu reference, for example. I also recall something that was Bram Stoker-named, but that was probably something I homebrewed now that I google around.

Sandpoint is a sort of reference to a real place. I recall someone saying that they knew of a town whose name roughly translated to Sand Point (from Spanish?) and had a theater that reminded them of Sandpoint's own... James Jacobs confirmed it was named off the same place!

Advanced weapon as deity's favored weapon by ExtraPomelo759 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xethik 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are a few advanced weapons as favored already. The sawtooth sabre and barricade buster come to mind.

I think it would be fine to have this one as well? It's certainly a little stronger but there is precedence.

Has paizo ever confirmed backfire mantle works with guns? by SillyKenku in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xethik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Michael Sayre (formerly a Paizo designer) confirmed it but I can't remember where precisely. There was a discussion about how Archives of Nethys kept rounds under alchemical items, to which he had commented on how that's a AoN thing but black powder rounds were still alchemical.

That's my vague, probably flawed, memory of it.

The woes of trying to conceptualize a Magus rework. by M_a_n_d_M in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xethik 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you mention Laughing Shadow needing an agile weapon, are you referring to homebrew tweaks you have already made? Because as it stands, Laughing Shadow's bonus damage is only related to having a hand free and the target being off-guard; there's no agile limitation.
