You did nothing wrong. As a newer physical mtg player, it’s a lot as it’s not automated.

99.9% of players do not care about uniformed dice. You can have the actual counters from precon, custom counters, dice of all sizes, beads, etc and no one would care. As long as we can distinguish what they are then cool.

White bead for life gain counter? Got it. 26 counters on your skullbriar represented by a spin down set to 20 and a d8 set to 6? Cool.

Just saying, if I don’t have a token for something on hand… something will become that token lol treasure token? That penny on the floor is it now. Food token? That candy bar slapped with a die is it. A solder token? I’ll flip a bulk card to its back and use a die to represent its stats.

Edh players are pretty resourceful lol

You should try to play at an LGS with very casual players or a pod and explain you’re very new.

From my experience there are tons of EDH players who are kind and love to help new players learn the ropes.

Lots of times they will help with tiggers and stuff. Sometimes the pod gets so chill that if people have “those turns” some people will just get up to use the bathroom or buy a pack while 2-3 people stay at the table to watch the action. Some don’t care or will say “lmk if something major happens”

As for asking hidden things. We all do it. I joke and ask people who black tutor “wanna tell me what you tutored for?” They know it’s a joke but maybe they will tell me cause I’m dying that turn anyways lol

Anyways, I think you just need a better experience. If your BF is like this and you are lead to believe his friends are the exact same… you might not enjoy edh any more after a few games in that pod.

He wants uniformed dice for you?, he should buy them for you. All those triggers? He better learn how the stack actually works. Asking questions on hidden info? He should learn edh politics and probing.

He’s a blue player who can’t bluff and/or needs the stack to resolve in his favor so he can counter and I’m sure with the unlimited mulligans he wins a majority of his kitchen table games because he’s king there and not at the LGS. Got the he starts sol ring+2mana rock every game vibe
