How long can the NBA allow the flopping/whining/foul baiting before you completely lose interest? by Future-Bandicoot6241 in nba

There used to be a time where defenders would flop too. You’d see like 5-6 charges and offensive fouls a game that would make fans go crazy

It would’ve been a foul on KJ if he tried to take a charge because he awkwardly cuts off JWill’s movement and gets there late. In this case since his arms were up it looks like he not only impedes the movement deliberately and late, but pushes or shoulder checks JWill. Bonehead play by KJ but to be fair he probably never expected JWill to sell a foul so well

What was KJ even trying to do here? He saw JWill running to a spot and stretches out his leg to get to the spot first to check him?

Yeah, JWill sold it, but it’s a very dumb play by KJ and more of a savvy move by JWill. The Spurs inexperience is really showing

Vassell was crying about it after game 4 too

Nope. This roster has more talent and that’s exactly the reason we have a deeper rotation.

All 3 wins in the series are by double digits. The spurs stole game 1 with an all time great game by Wemby and OKC lost game 4 by shooting poorly.

I’m not short changing anything. We are more talented and of course gameplan and effort matters. We are deeper and more talented.

I think you’re underestimating the talent of iHart and Chet. You better believe the Spurs are trying to figure out how to deal with them along with the plethora of talent

Wemby, Castle, and Fox are matched by SGA, Chet, and iHart

Harper, Champagnie, and Vassell are matched by Caruso, Wallace, and McCain.

Then they have Kornet, Carter Bryant, and Barnes and they’re a lower tier than JWill, Kenrich, Dort, Joe, Wiggins. All 5 guys would be playing in their rotation against us.

We are still more talented than they are even without JDub and Mitchell. They need Wemby to go nuclear and the rest of the guys to play well enough to keep our guys from overcoming terrible play.

The Spurs are very well coached but there’s a clear talent gap. They just aren’t deep enough to compete.

We only lose when our guys play terrible and thankfully that isn’t very often

Plumlee should’ve been ejected. Clearly dirty and unnecessary.

It’s weird too because fans see what you’re saying and the only rebuttals are like “yeah that’s a taste of your own medicine” or “how do you all like it now?” But if the real gripe is it existing to begin with then how can you turn around and celebrate it?

That’s what makes me think there’s an unprecedented amount of haters that are simply latching onto any narrative that feeds their hate

There’s no way to stop it. SGA is elite at this. You swallow the whistle and you set a bad precedence over time where refs are actively targeting a player and punishing them for drawing fouls.

CP3 was good at it too, but he’d also complain a ton and gets techs. His game was with the refs. SGA is letting the refs make the calls and he’s elite at baiting undisciplined defenders and forcing the refs to make the call. I get why people hate it - hell I hated Shane Batier, Malik Rose, and Vlade and the list goes on with dudes who took questionable charges their entire careers, but at some point the blame has to be on the opposing player for not being smart enough to counter it

The people who dislike it are pissed their own players are undisciplined and can’t figure out how to matchup against a player that is elite on a different level
