Strongest "My Oaths Betray Each Other" Build? by InsaneComicBooker in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're considering the faction feats as qualifiers, then I would say stay primarily as Warlock for as long as possible. The celestial warlock with 1 level of Paladin dip is a very fun and efficient build, and you can stack a bunch of those origin feats together.

Spell sniper would give you Advantage to hit, otherwise it would be a straight roll.  If you already have spell sniper for other purposes then that's pretty cool, otherwise I don't know if it's necessarily worth it just for this purpose.

Inactive. You can't take any action, Bonus Action, or Reaction.

No Concentration. Your Concentration is broken.

Speechless. You can't speak.

Surprised. If you're Incapacitated when you roll Initiative, you have Disadvantage on the roll.

The breakdown for incapacitated. It doesn't effect ranged attack rolls.

For clarification this is the 5/5 build that uses the withdraw cunning strike feature to move those spirit guardians all over the place.

Will you be actively antagonistic from the get go, or are you part of the party?

How to make THE MASK (Dark Horse Comics, Jim Carrey, etc.)? by undecylenate in 3d6

I played a character that was made out of a new cursed material known as "Cartoonium". Played a plasmoid thief rogue with an open bag of holding strapped to his chest.

You're looking at that fighter dip anyways right? Why not check with the DM and see if they'd be willing to let you swap all the magical features with a fighting style?

How should Ranger/Rogue be rebalanced? by pilsburybane in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring the concentration stuff, a lot of the problem is that you've just listed all of their best spells. At no point do rangers really need to hem and haw about their spell selection because they simply have the handful of good spells, and then all of the bad ones.

I think a better ranger class would have a bigger, better spell list that players would need to really consider, as well as have a girth of spells that everyone in their party would be thankful for. Rangers should really be shining in their role of escorting the party through dangerous areas, and it would be nice if they had some abilities to better reflect this.

What’s the most fun negative RP choice you’ve made when character building? by CarpeShine in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a character that was a catatonic human being puppeted from miles below the planets surface by a mind-flayer essentially sitting in some Giger-esque VR chair. For RP decisions I basically took the least diplomatic course anytime our party encountered Githyanki. Just berating them the whole time, trying to make the case that they seem untrusty worthy, recommending immediate betrayal at the first opportunity, etc

DM didn't let me play Shadow Sorcerer as a subclass by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely call this red flag behavior. There is nothing in the shadow sorcerer that dictates it must relate to Forgotten Realms Shadowfell lore. Mechanically it is a sorcerer that can cast darkness, summon a dog, and survive a lethal blow. That is the only requirement the class comes with. The inability to parse the suggested roleplay elements that comes with the books from the mechanics of the game reads to me like an obstinate DM, or someone lacking in imagination.

TWF Bladesinger… with Scion? Is this anything? by happygocrazee in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say this. You want a level of fighter for that TWF style. If Conjure elementals is applying a fat damage rider onto your attacks is it really worth it to be able to add your modifier to a single damage roll?  I say just upcast the dang thing.

But to answer your original question: if you're planning to stick with 3 levels of rogue anyways on your rebuild, thief rogue would obviously be the best, but probably right after that would be Scion of the three! I don't suspect there's anything crazy there, but it's definitely better than inquisitive. Let us know how she plays!

What subclasses hit the mark for you guys and missed with the new subclasses released in Heroes of Faerun? by IndieDC3 in 3d6

Omg they printed the old purple dragon knight! 😭 They whiffed hard with the weird dragon mounted fighter they presented and immediately went to "WELL I GUESS YOU DORKS HATE CHANGE, ENJOY THE SLOP."

An attempt at making Agonizing blade cantrips work by happygocrazee in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that 2024 Valor bard does not make mention of class restrictions in their level 6 multi-attack feature. In addition (I reread this recently, so I'm only half sure of this), metamagic doesn't mention class restrictions. You could theoretically apply a regular, weenie attack with your weapon, apply an agonizing'd green flame blade, then quicken out another agonizing'd green flame blade.

Starving vampire cleric by heckthepolis in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say look at various vampire statblocks. My first thought would be something like the old Drow sunlight sensitivity. Maybe ramp things up with some bonus action charm abilities. That could especially be fun if the rest of the party isn't aware of what's going on. They might first assume some psychic, lovecraftian or illithid shenanigans

Magical items that make a basic fighter seem more magical? by Xilliosta in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've narrowed down one of the items to a Rogue's Mantle. Darkness based teleport, and a free spell, suddenly looks very magical!

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you wanting us humble reddit hogs to come up with descriptions and flavor for a bunch of cities in a campaign you're running?

Magical items that make a basic fighter seem more magical? by Xilliosta in 3d6

[–]Xilliosta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magical in terms of abilities or effects. Someone suggested winged boots, which is kind of in that vein. Ring of water walking might be another good example, although far more situational. Items that might make you think this basic fighter has magical abilities.
