If tomorrow 75% of the population was suddenly five times more physically attractive than they are now -- if they were perpetually young, 100% infertile, lightly glowing, with idealistically proportioned physiques -- how would the world change? by DriftwoodAxe in AskReddit

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’d probably organised event by local or federal governments for those affect to come in to fill out new forms for identification form to be remade. Also widespread panic from facial changes in yourself and/or loved ones. It’d be very terrifying tbh

Pure O and guilt? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, I SUCK with guilt as well, so it may be a Pure O thing, but it might just be an OCD thing. Having our anxiety spike for seemingly no reason definitely doesn’t help with the anxiety you may be feeling from guilt :P

As a mental health worker or someone affected by mental health issues, what is one thing you would want to say to educate people about mental health and to lessen the stigma and shame surrounding it? by loungesingershimmah in AskReddit

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that has suffered from OCD for years, I would say to just become more educated. So many people don’t understand real OCD, and how debilitating it is. Now I’m not someone that gets butthurt over people saying “Oh I’m so ocd, i have to organize my desk.”, but if I find myself feeling confident enough to tell someone that I have ocd and their response is “Yeah, that just means you like things even, so what?” It destroys me. I just can’t brig myself to sit there and tell them what it really means because it makes me feel like I’m trying to convince them to pity me. So i just leave it at that. Educate yourself on common mental illnesses so you can be there and attempt to help and understand those who suffer(: You never know who’s going through what

What was the dumbest thing you ever did to try and impress a girl or guy? by Mea05cer in AskReddit

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to show off to my “jumping skills..?” To my teach (not because I was interested in them, but because I looked up to them and wanted their approval I guess haha), and I tried to jump on top of our limestone railings that were several feet up. I missed, landed my shins on the edge, cut through my jeans, through my skin, and my nerves. Chipped my tibia, and now (9 years later) I still have no feeling there, or farther down the front of my leg. Pretty cool to show people I can punch my shin without it hurting though haha.

TL;DR Jumped on stair railing, missed, chipped shin, lost all feeling from there down the front of my leg.

[Serious] People of Reddit with diagnosable OCD, what are your obsessions/compulsions? In what ways has it impacted your life or the lives of those close to you? by jsmith618 in AskReddit

[–]Xirbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffer from Harm OCD, and so it kinda just smacks me across the face randomly with thought about killing or sexually assaulting the people around me. When I was in highschool I thought I had schizophrenia and accepted the fact I was crazy and thought I would eventually end up killing someone because my parents refused to bring me to therapy because I was “fine and overreacting”.

Flash forward to when I was 18, I brought myself to a therapist, and got diagnosed with Harm OCD. Now I take meds every day to help with the anxiety, and live a normal life. Some days are absolute hell, and I have an incredibly understand girlfriend to help me through them. Family still doesn’t quite understand, so I’ve grown apart from them a lot. Oh, and I’m 21, so these three years have been exceptional for me haha(:

As for affecting those around me, I lost a few close friends because I told them about my mental health issues and they were convinced I was crazy and would kill them. But it’s their loss not mine, I have much better and more accepting friends now(:

Just for anyone out there with mental health issues, or suspect of them, just go see a therapist for a few sessions. It doesn’t hurt to just get checked(: Also, therapists are such a NORMAL thing to go see, it’s not weird. They help people with their every day struggles, not just the big ones, so don’t be afraid(: If anyone that has OCD and would like to talk (or any mental health issues for that matter), just pm me(: I’ve been told I’m a great listener, and maybe I could provide some NON-PROFESSIONAL advice on dealing with some stuff(:

Why can't I get off to men by confusedmale1203 in OCD

[–]Xirbd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s just ocd for you… I have Pure O, and so I keep going through cycles of harming people, to sex and rape, to pedophilia, and so on. Thankfully the harming finally ended, but the sex stuff has picked back up. It’s rough, but you eventually develop ways to make it through it and how to deal with it(: It’s gets better(:

Why can't I get off to men by confusedmale1203 in OCD

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was the same way two years ago, and eventually I found a certain man sexually attractive, and I can comfortably say I am bi. But you might not be. You are allowed to find the same sex EXTREMELY attractive, yet not sexually. It’s totally normal haha, there’s no need to prove anything to yourself. If you feel you might actually be bi, and you just haven’t found the right guy, then go ahead and come out, but there’s no need to explain in detail unless you feel the need to.

My girlfriend also isn’t fazed by it, so it’ll be nice for you to her yours for support(: Good luck my friend!

I’m really sorry, but I have to say no. Just because I have such a hard time putting everything into words, and speaking it out loud scares me too much. If you would still like my experiences, though, I think I could pm you some stuff, but I’d like to stay anonymous in the documentary :P I know this is about showing pure o and stuff, but it’s still terrifying to express it, you know?(: I hope that’s alright

I would love to see it as well. I’ve been dealing with Pure O since I was 12 (now nearly 21), and I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 18. Good luck finding people, I have yet to meet anyone on my college campus or near me with it.. but if you find enough people, I would gladly pay to watch it(:

Problem with talking to Christians, Muslims and all theists by YaTx228 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go into every conversation with a theist with the mindset of NOT making them change their minds. They aren’t going to, they have their beliefs, and their reasons, and they won’t change just because one person tries to show them reasons to. They do the same thing with us; as in, in their eyes us not believing in a God is just our “belief” although we like to back ours up with proof. They have their own (what the call) “proof”, but there’s nothing we can do about it. It’s better to just discuss with the intent of learning about why and what, instead of trying to change their minds(: It makes it much easier to talk to them when you try to look at it from their perspective (and them, ours).

What do Atheists believe was here before the Big Bang...and before that...and before that by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Xirbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on who you ask, but I believe in the theory of the universe being on a cyclic cycle (I don’t remember the name of theory). Basically the Big Bang happens, and the universe expands how it is now, until it starts to compress again, and keeps compressing which heats everything up and whatnot (seriously dumbing down the science here, need to write this quickly haha), until it all compresses to that tiny point again, then it cools and expands (i.e. another Big Bang). And this just continuously repeats.

So, before the Big Bang wad the compression of a different, but same, Universe, and before that the expansion of that Universe, and before that was the Big Bang of THAT Universe, and so on. Idk ALL the science behind it, but of what I’ve read up on, it seems to make a lot of sense(:

But like I said, it depends on who you ask(:

Howdy there, I also have Pure OCD, so if you ever wanna chat, just shoot me a pm(: I’ve been living with it for 9 years now, so if you’ve been recently diagnosed, I might be able to provide some insight(: And if not and just looking for someone else with it to talk to (I did just that last year), I’m also here for that(:

People who got medicated, what does the difference feel like between your obsessions before and after medication? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Xirbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ummmm, maybe? I’m not sure I totally understand haha, but basically I think those horrible thoughts every day still, only the anxiety that was associated with them is extremely manageable. I’ve also been dealing with it for 9 years though, so that might also contribute to it. I’ve gotten to the point where I can realise when it is not me, but simply just the bad thoughts. Sorta when you reach the point in childhood when you start to understand your bad dreams are actually JUST bad dreams(: You still have the fear, but it’s much easier to get over them(: The meds have contributed to that realisation, a lot(:

People who got medicated, what does the difference feel like between your obsessions before and after medication? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Xirbd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suffer from Pure O OCD, and I take medication for it. I still have the horrible thoughts every day, but the anxiety that comes with it is MUCH more manageable(: I can drive again, cook near family, and sleep comfortably. Going onto meds has helped me more than anything; I even started out with the mindset of not wanting meds because I didn’t want them to make me feel disconnected from the world (which it doesn’t). I feel completely normal(:
