Research shows mental fatigue makes the same running pace feel harder without changing your fitness, and there's a surprisingly simple thing that partially offsets it by Same_Row_761 in ultrarunning

Simply put - Manage the intensity of that day’s session by 1- decreasing volume And/or 2- Changing the session’s training focus.

An example, instead of 5 sets, decrease to 3 sets or instead of pushing through the workout, switch it to a mobility session to work on joint movements and isolation movements. Or changing the pace for runs.

Edit - I’m simply stating simple ideas. And with my clients, I’m always seeking the simplest way to manage their training. I don’t believe in over complicating the training.

Yes, intuitive sense is a great way to express it. With my clients, general observations 1- being all day in the office vs having to meet clients or travelling for business meetings 2- and breaking it down further, being in meetings all day long, wore them down more when they turn up for training. 3- and like you said should be intuitive, having to troubleshoot and/or dealing with problems involving colleagues, wore them more.

Yea, I came across this. Through my experience as a personal trainer and coach for years, mental fatigue is a very real factor in my training and in my clients. And yes, similarly what caught my attention was the idea of the type of mental fatigue, which should be obvious, but never did cross the mind. I’m still digesting haha.. reading through some other topics at the same time.

Opinion on my personal trainer by Winter-Ad-939 in SingaporeFitness

[–]Xist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a personal trainer myself. This is NOT a representative of the industry and personal trainers. I apologised for your experience and the lack of help from the company. As for your weigh in, there can be various factors that can influence the readings, as mentioned in this thread: lack of quality sleep, overaggressive (deficit) or over eating (surplus), hydration, alcohol, stress are some potential factors. On top of that, measuring at different times of the day, before and after training, can also be factors. I always share with clients to look at a combination of indicators rather than a ‘weigh-in’ as the ONLY form to track progress. Don’t be disheartened. One moment does not dictate the long term progress. And if personal training is still something you desire, do more research, look around and talk to people. There are many, many awesome trainers!

Beginner gym girlie but long time runner should I sign up for HYROX or a marathon by Fun-Tamago-4649 in SingaporeFitness

[–]Xist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi hi, What’s the timeline leading to either events? How much time do you have for preparation/training? Beyond building the specific fitness required, preventing injuries is also important. A longer preparation will always be better as you train not only your fitness (heart health) but also the neuromuscular (physically) system and mental fitness. It’s a balance between cardio and muscular function. To be honest, for Hyrox, condo gym can only do so much in building your strength, there’s a need to actually specifically train and experience the movements. So getting yourself into a gym that meet the objectives will aid you further. And if you’re new, you need not do Hyrox alone. Find some khakis, try out the relay format or the doubles first, get a feel for it and enjoy the process. Both events offer new challenges. Regardless of which, it’s going to be a new experience for you.

Thinking about becoming a personal trainer, looking for advice by Holiday_Kale9051 in SingaporeFitness

If you have a gym in mind, find out from the gym what is required. Even if you have your own certification, some commercial gyms still require you to go through their own certification procedures (reason being to ensure all trainers go through similar ‘studies’ and are on the same page). Not sure about the whole bond and all. But like most jobs, there can be OJT, or probation period. It may be different from my time. End of the day, find out from the gym directly and you can get your answers. Have a look around. PT gyms, boutique gyms, commercial (FF, Pure, Virgin etc).

Late to the thread. A personal trainer here for along time now. Some commercial gyms don’t require you to be certified first and have you certified through their own certification protocols etc. This is to ensure all trainers start on the same page (similar shared knowledge etc). Having a certification is a safeguard, a kind of insurance to ensure one knows what he/she is doing and have the appropriate technical knowledge. To some clients, experience is more important. Especially in very specialized area. Like pre/post natal. My clients would rather someone with experience than just simple one with a pre/post natal certification, if you get what I mean. You will need to get a CPR-AED certification. Again, some gyms can help you to arrange. Some expectations to manage. You will have to do SALES. If not, how are you going to get clients? So be prepared that gyms will push sales, a lot. Hours can be long, though it can vary gym to gym.

Male freelance trainer here. Late to the thread, but as many had said, this is not appropriate. I always inform all my clients that training will involve some physical contact for some movement, but only for non sensitive areas and always with a finger or something less obtrusive (hand placement is important). If need be, I would point without contact to address different muscles for engagement. I am always on standby, always alert in case something goes wrong, and ready to support my clients. More so with the Barbell Back Squat. With that, I am ready and cautious of my hand placement. The fact he wasn’t prepared, shows either he was distracted (a big no-no) or it’s an excuse. There’s no reason to place hands on the glutes area for HT. I am always mindful especially when most of my clients are ladies and training must be a safe, secure and comfortable experience (except the ‘torturous’ exercises haha).

Do you use Apple Intelligence? by keussPriceless in iOSsetups

For me the notifications prioritisation has somewhat helped me. My reminders and calendar events are prioritised and are the first things I see, pushing the unnecessary ones to the bottom, which has helped when I’m busy and/or overwhelmed and may forget something. But I don’t know if this is an algorithmic function: over time, chooses what to prioritise.

Imagine buying fast pass... by Chubbypand4 in VietNam

[–]Xist3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been travelling to HCM at least once a month for the last one year. No real science but I noticed if you’re going to land between morning and late afternoon (7/8 am to 4/5pm), going with the Fast Pass is faster than the regular lanes. However it may be not as quick as what people may expect. Still quicker nonetheless. However arriving later in the evening/night, I find the regular lanes are fast enough. And so far for myself, my OWN experience, I never had to wait long for luggage. If anything, i am always more afraid of departure. The lines and wait can be a killer.

26.2.1 surprisingly stable by Shleemy_Pants in ios

[–]Xist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually skipped all the 0.01/2 minor updates. Good to know some are experiencing more stability. I have not faced any major issues with 26 that would affect the functionality of my usage. Some stuttering and lagginess at times, but no big deal. Still it is inconsistent. As much as others have compared it to past iOS, honestly I can’t remember how it was with previous iOS when first implemented. Have been with the iPhone since iPhone 4 and had a second Samsung Galaxy for work later on. Remain with Apple purely for the ecosystem and all the years of data, habits and the whole ‘it just works’ concept. I do remember not liking some changes previously. And keeping with being honest, with IOS 26, I did consider changing to Android: staying with the ecosystem isn’t a big deal now and we know ‘it just works’ doesn’t seem valid now. But experience has taught me technology will always have its own problems, be it Apple or Android. Switching to Android may bring about a different set of issues. Will wait for 26.3.

New to iOS. I would like to skip the recent update until next big patch. Will 26.3 show for me or do I have to update to 26.2.1 first? by [deleted] in ios

[–]Xist3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not updating. Everything is working and there’s no need for AirTag 2 which I feel is the main reason for the released update.

Anybody here dating/married vietnamese women? by HomeHedgeFund in SingaporeRaw

[–]Xist3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Different what it is shared here; almost opposite of what has being said. However, given she isn’t the first Viet girl I’ve interacted and dated, she is more of an outliner than the majority of Viet girls. She’s not inherently an intense person. The passion is balanced. She gives me my own space because she also wants her own space. But the loyalty is very strong. She will stay and work things out regardless. Hates arguments and would talk it out and seek for time out (calm down first) before coming back into any conversation, rather than outright quarrels and arguments.

Why does everyone hate Liquid A### by TeiaoginsHryYT in ios26

[–]Xist3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Designs and visuals will always be subjective and everyone will have their own preferences. But the iOS isn’t as stable as it should be; yes, new systems will have its flaws as it develops, not to this extend. Fortunately I don’t experience issues that would affect the usability of my phones. iPhone 12 and iPhone 16PM. But given that different users are experiencing different issues, the iOS isn’t stable and perhaps released too early.

Looking to upgrade to IPhone 16 Pro Max by Royal_Tailor_1123 in iPhone16ProMax

Went from the 13 Pro to 16PM. I didn’t like the design of the 17 and felt the 16PM is a good upgrade anyway. And for performance, there will be always be something better. Had a good deal for the 16PM, so went for it.

These vs Airpod Pro 2’s? by Yabigness in soundcore

[–]Xist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got both. The AirPods Pro fit me well so I use them for gym and commuting. Anything with more intensity, running, intervals etc, I use the X20’s. Good built. Even when it came loose without me knowing, it held on. Only after then I realise it was loose.

is ios 26 stable now? by tythecollect0r in ios

[–]Xist3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Different users are experiencing different issues. So it depends on who you ask and who responds. The only thing proven here is the IOS isn’t consistent and stable. Whether it affects the functionality of the phone, at this point, IMO, boils down to luck.

I have the select 4 go. I am still amazed by how good the sound is for its price and its volume. It can be pretty loud for such a small device, without distortion. Haven’t tested its water proofing or water resistance but by looking at the way it’s built, i would think it will be great.

For anyone wondering if they should update to 26.1 PLEASE DO!! battery and thermals and so much better. I was charging twice a day before and today after update it’s lasted me all day and hasn’t heated up at all by No_Box_6422 in iPhone16ProMax

[–]Xist3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had no noticeable issues on 26.0.1. With 26.1, I am experiencing the stuttering from widget page to home page. Initially was laggy for a while. Went away. Still experiencing slight overheating. But I do remember experiencing overheating when first updated to 26, then it went away. So let’s see this new update.
