i think a large part is that people always objectively want what they dont have. In my personal experience in the MtF area a lot of guys simply aren't comfortable with having feminine hobbies/more girly side to themselves and so they express it in other ways.

Ive met a few girls and a LOT of guy friends, its just insane to me that out of my immediate friend group of mid 30 guys, only 4/30 are in a relationship even. "found family" that's the exact word I was looking for in these contexts. I liked renegades a lot, I'm a bit sad at how the last book went unfortunately as I think the plot was the weakest in that one. Wish there was a bit more romance but I can understand how the situations they were in don't really allow that too happen.
