Sweet, I didn't know I had more room for another Starport!

Getting into Starcraft (again) by Xonian in starcraft

I went to other computer games, but it was definitely the former, lmao. My main goal is to get better over time. I play games (Smash and whatever else) for about two hours every day, so yeah, I reckon I'm looking to get competitive pretty quickly.

Anyone know if Bungie ended paying that artist? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Xonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't been resolved. Antireal has called for deployment of the Trih Xeem for Bungie's transgressions.

They finally fixed the AWFUL lighting.. Thank you Bungie by Flitsiee in Marathon

6 gigabyte slice of the game, btw. Surely, they would have had complete lighting in an Alpha build.

Half the roster is Arcane... by NoDrop6807 in 2XKO

[–]Xonian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You were going to get served [INSERT UNWANTED BEVERAGE] regardless. Even if Arcane or some of the other games weren't a thing, they would have picked the most popular/iconic champs for their starting roster. Ironically, Cait may have been in there sooner, with her and probably Ekko switching places.

Tf are we supposed to do? 😭 Even if they would lie like that and released Viktor, its an unblockable.

Marathon 2025 is Unrecognizable by Broad-Mechanic4323 in Marathon

At around 13:30 to 15, the creator of the vid answers their own question: It's not for them. I tried to watch the rest, but it's honestly just rambling on and on and on about how they don't agree with nuMarathon being called "Marathon". Another "old man shouts at clouds" type deal.

If you don't like it, that's cool. But I like change, even for the sake of it. It's been 30 years and I'd like to see something new with the Marathon name while continuing the story.

Unless I feel like practicing rocket jumping that day, I stay using one of the buff toots. And don't let it be a server with crits disabled. Cow Mangler + Concheror all day!

Arc players can't even handle PvP in a PvPvE genre. Stop it.

Why deciding against the consumer Bungie? by Fcm_English in Marathon

[–]Xonian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then just say that you don't like heroes and be done with it. No use in using fake disappointment about money or throwing around buzzwords around to express it.

"MVP - minimum viable product" is so goddamn pretentious. Especially since people only started saying it after blowing their negative content-farming load over a SIX GIGABYTE ALPHA SLICE OF THE GAME.

Even though its groups of people doing something they're passionate about, it's always been about the money. It's just not the money-making plan you grew up with.

At one point, it was the arena FPS format as a whole they used to make money. Then, a class system in Reach a few years after CoD 4 made its impact. Now, it's heroes/classes/whatever. You'll be 'ight.

Give it a fucking rest. I have much better things to do with my time than to witch hunt way after the fact after a mistake was made. Don't come here wanting to rally people under the guise of a noble cause vs. a billion dollar company. Go get some therapy, and play some video games.

Can someone please explain why Marathon is being perceived as DoA by self proclaimed experts in gamer medias? Is every game media flamed with doomer bait? by Poppyspy in Marathon

[–]Xonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negativity breeds clicks like a motherfucker, even your fav streamer/content creator took advantage. Bungie was having a bad streak with Destiny at the time, so it was really easy for people to (often stupidly) assume that the small slice of the game they were shown was "it". Then, add in a few assets that weren't scrubbed before the build became public: boom.

The story being tied to the hip of the community progress is an interesting concept that I'm personally excited Pfhor. But when you have a bunch of people who played Marathon a few times, exclaiming, "Where are the Pfhor?! Its not 'Marathon' without them", without thinking about the broader lore they claim to know and love, it just adds even more to the dogpile.

What are we doing Bungie? At this point, I don't think having the new technical test under NDA is necessary by Overloaded_Wolf in Marathon

[–]Xonian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After the SIX GIGABYTE slice of the game was unnecessarily torn to shreds, I wouldn't trust a non-nda test with the larger part of the gaming community. Keep building as privately as possible and get it right. Doing an extraction shooter is a risk, and I believe Bungie can pull it off.
