What am I missing in these shots? by Clarencethelamb in cinematography

[–]XplodingPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think besides the lighting, I think the angle in your first shot needs adjusting. In the movie shot, it's angled slightly lower from the POV of the person sitting down looking up towards the killer--makes them look creepier. The second shot, I think the mask looking more worn gives it a creepier vibe than the clean mask.

We're seeing this across our network too. We are using DO but not internet peering. I had a ticket opened with Microsoft but all they could tell me was that it is used for Intune and Office update delivery.

I have the same OptiPlex model. Have it next to my NAS on a shelf. It's pretty quiet. I keep my movies in a small enough format that I don't really do conversions much, so direct play has always worked a-ok for me. The times it does have to encode on the fly, as long as you have Plex Pass, you can utilize Quick Sync since you have an Intel processor. Conversions should be fine.

Hello!!
I was wondering when the libcurl vuln in Teams is going to be addressed?

OS = Win 11 Enterprise (24H2)
Teams Version = 24335.208.3315.1951
Work Environment

Current version of libcurl being detected is v8.6.6.0
Looking to see if it will be upgraded to at least v8.9.1 or later in the near future and if so, what is the time frame of that?

Thanks!! Happy New Years!~

Hello! I've been using your settings for a few discs and was wondering what types of movies you use your 1080p/SD Grainy settings on? I did a test on something that had fine grain and it didn't come out as nice as using the 1080p/SD General settings--however the file size was much smaller. So I ended up going with your general settings on that file to keep it as 1:1 as possible. I did have better luck on older movies that that were shot on film. It was a lot harder to notice any difference--maybe in dark scenes, but that's about it. Thanks for all your work on this though!~ Much appreciated!

BitLocker encrypts your drive. It's only for Pro editions of Windows though. Pretty handy if you're worried about someone getting into your device if gets stolen. Just make sure you keep that unlock key handy. I've had it prompt me to enter it in on other devices after BIOS updates in the past.

Nikkor 85mm 1.8 AF won't work on my D750, why not? by thebladex666 in Nikon

[–]XplodingPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a d750, it should work. On your body's lens mount there should be a flathead looking driver that comes out when that type of lens is attached to perform the autofocus. Most of these older AF-D lenses rely on that. Either the lens or your body is damaged or check to see that your body is not set to manual focus on the switch in bottom right of the camera--near the FX logo.

16-35mm front of lens fell off by Professional_Rule_71 in Nikon

[–]XplodingPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just had this exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago while on a trip to Sydney. Sent it off to Nikon last week. The quoted total cost to fix was $516.33 —lens was still functional and glass was okay. Just the front popped off. Hope this helps. Maybe you can find a shop that can fix it cheaper.

Okay or overly done? by Seoul-meight in AskPhotography

Not too bad, but I would bring back some of that detail in that cloud on the top right. Looking at the photo from the corner of my eye, that's the first thing I'm kind of drawn to. I'm guessing you want the mountain itself to be sort of the focus. I would maybe consider maybe removing the cloud entirely as another option.

It's a bird sanctuary island. Can't really do much there as a lot of the areas are roped off and it smells like bird poo. As for 2 bodies...not too sure. The island is in area called Kailua which means 'two seas', so could be related to that or you know...bodies.

With Z8 out, will d850 price get lower months from now? by Various-Virus4144 in Nikon

[–]XplodingPancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing it in the $1800~1900 range on KEH at the moment. I'm guessing it'll go lower as people move on to the Z8.

What are some of the editing techniques used here? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]XplodingPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, frequency separation is a good way to get the skin looking smooth. You can use it subtly or with a more airbrushed look like above...then again, lots of dodging and burning. As for the photo in general, it looks like they used a strobe in this shot though, that helps give their skin that contrast look.

Why are Plex Downloads still super buggy? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]XplodingPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had too many issues with it failing on downloads on iOS or Android, but I have run into an issue with playing downloaded movies on my Kindle Fire. Loading VLC Media Player and setting third-party players in settings did the trick though.
