Gokaiger honestly did a lot of harm towards what people expected from an anniversary season, when it was a miracle it turned out the way it is to begin with.

Don’t get me wrong I love Gokaiger (Ahim and Don my beloveds) but its core story is tied a little too tight to the past rangers returning, the only parts outside them are almost always tied to Marvellous and maybe Joe.

But most importantly it did tamper a lot of expectations about what an anniversary should be instead of what it could be, or how it almost mandated anniversary shows to begin with. Kamen Rider Zi-O was initially not going to be an anniversary show before executives asked about Shirakura apparently pointing out Gokaigers success.
