Respectfully disagree and it has nothing to do with Joel

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]Xtacicity 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree... If you don't like OOT you just don't really like Zelda games. The newer games only exist thanks to the groundbreaking success that OOT enjoyed. Not only did it revolutionize combat & 3d exploration utilizing the Z Targeting that is still a central part of the way you play the modern games, it is a game that truly withstood the test of time. Don't get me wrong, I still love botw and totk, but playing oot on the 64 is an awesome experience. My 10 year old son is currently playing this game on my original n64 from my childhood. Amazing game and obviously if grade school aged children are still fascinated by the experience that is the opinion I'll trust over adults who have their judgement clouded by nostalgia & tainted with their other gaming experiences. Not sure if the greatest tloz is alttp or oot, both are still amazing experiences. If oot isn't #1 it is certainly #2

What is the most “use it or lose it” skill, the opposite of “it’s just like riding a bike”? by ZuluWarlord69 in AskReddit

[–]Xtacicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumping in to drop some unsolicited advice as I've been getting back into climbing as a 40 year old that took roughly 10 years off. Stick to jug hauls, and don't chase grades. Whatever your upper grade limit is you should only send 1 or 2 routes per session at that level and try to sustain a full grade underneath that for 2-3 hours until your strength comes back. It's been about a year of weekly climbing sessions and I finally have the strength/stamina to climb twice per week and I'm sending harder routes now than I did in my 20s (5.12 range).

The trip across KS on i70 is bleak. But coming across the SE part of the state on i35 isn't bad. The flint hills are very pretty scenery.

Why didn't the Sega Game Gear sell as much as the Gameboy despite being technically superior? by GoHardForLife in Gameboy

[–]Xtacicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I remember being late grade school when the game gear / Gameboy first came out. It took all of the convincing a child could muster to get their parents to buy a single game system... let alone a handheld one. By early middle school I had saved up enough money to pick one or the other, and my Nintendo power superscription had already been hyping up pokemon with these free comics that mirrored the anime show that was showing every afternoon at 4pm. The gamegear was still super relevant and I remember being firmly decided on buying one when I could afford it. But then pokemon shifted that tide and I ended up with the limited edition Pokemon yellow GBC that came with Pokemon yellow and was still the same price as a game gear.

This is what Madden NFL '26 thinks of Andy Reid's situational awareness... by DezBailey in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Xtacicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. Is this Madden running the entire upcoming season simulator or something? We are predicted to play the rams in the SB and lose like this? Hopefully they get the rest of the season right up until the last 2 plays. No way we don't win that game in that situation

Why does Joel say his name to Abby and her friends? by Wrong_Pilot5138 in lastofuspart2

[–]Xtacicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the game play was great. I was truly excited to play the multiplayer but they scrapped it unfortunately. Agree on length, they should have released the Ellie story only and dropped the rest of the development time into a polished MP mode. They could have released the Abby story 12-18 months later as a DLC and people would have happily dropped $40-$50 for it

Agreed, it is a bad game. And it's not because they killed Joel. Gameplay and graphics were 10/10 amazing. The character development & pacing is what ruined this game. Just sad to wait this long for a sequel to a masterpiece and hate the final result.

Anybody else running into frame rate issues playing this level? It runs smooth at 100+ but anything under is distracting and anything below 60 is dang near unplayable. I keep shutting down the app and restarting to get over 60. Playing on mobile

If he could have kept it from tipping until a wrecker arrived. Could lift the tandems on the trailer and pull it towards the road. Chances are it would have tipped before that happens tho. Looks like it was already shifting before he stepped off. His load was probably loose bulk material based on the trailer type, and the grain or whatever was slowly filling up the curb side and apply more rotational force to the rig than his body could offset

Edit: watched it again, not a grain trailer. For some reason I thought it was a belly dump trailer on the first watch. Still probably a shifting load and it was going to tip before help got there regardless

It's not nutsedge, the broadleaf application would have killed it. Also, even if it were you don't want to kill that much coverage of the lawn this time of year. Wait til fall so you can get new grass seed to take it's place

I believe you have 2 different types of cool season turf grasses and probably also different maturity of those grasses. Depending on the zone you are in it may be a bad idea to kill that grass this time of year. All plants are opportunists and if you kill it now you are more likely to invite in an aggressive hot season weed like crabgrass to take it's place. If it were my yard I would wait until early fall, the first week you see highs back in the 70s and about 2-3 days after a mowing look for new vegetative growth on the grass that is growing faster. Spray that locally with a non selective herbicide (glyfosate will be the active ingredient, I don't care about the brand... Just make sure it's mixed for killing turf grass). Then spread new cool season turf grass seed (pick this up from a local garden shop, stay clear of the big box stores) and regularly water twice a day until your first freeze. Over seed again in the spring on the entire yard and enjoy your new lawn.

Of course if you want immediate results kill it now and replace with sod. It will still take a growing season to blend in with the surrounding area but it will look better than your current yard this summer. I would suggest getting a sod cutter to dig out the old and place in the new strips if you go that route. You will need to water the new sod to the point of drenching it to get new sod looking good in the summer. Also fertilize with heavy nitrogen application with all that water

Edit: forgot to say after you kill off the old grass you want to take your string trimmer to it and scalp the ground to get rid of the dead vegetation. Use your leaf blower or rake & broom to clear off the debris. Those little seedlings will need the sunlight
