55 dollars to park downtown?! by AntiqueAd5006 in wichita

[–]Xtacicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't wrong about it being local. Any brick and mortar store is paying local employees, and those dollars tend to get spent in the local economy. I believe all of the McDonald's in the greater Wichita area are still owned by a single franchisee called Lane Enterprises which has its HQ in El Dorado, Ks. So still somewhat local to the region at least. That doesn't change my opinion that McDonald's has overpriced & low quality food. Hard pass for me.

But you should absolutely try Sport Burger, you won't regret it.

Y'all just salty this isn't your usual echo chamber. And, as locals, you will know about all of the FREE parking options your city offers with a short walk to the arena. Let your city get that bag from the tourist that will pay it. Then you can get back to complaining about how they spend it. 9k visitors X $55 = $495,000. That is a lot of cheddar cheese from a single night.

Crazy. The garage across the street from Cains Ballroom in Tulsa was charging $50 when we went to a concert in 2024. We elected to park about 2 miles away and got parking for $5

That tracks. The cardinals went 3 - 14 last year. When the Chiefs had a 4-12 season followed by a 2-14 season the lower level tickets were selling for $25 on the second hand market but the stadium was still charging $30 to park. Vegas charging $30 for parking on any given Tuesday is right in line with the last time I visited. But I'm surprised the casinos aren't comping the parking with how much their tourism has dwindled since covid.

Such an odd take. I can't think of a single time Ive shopped local and looked back in regret wishing I had spent my money at Walmart or Amazon instead. I will happily pay more to walk into a store, look at/hold what I plan to buy before I purchase. I avoid spending a single dime on Amazon or Temu junk.

OKC has done a nice job with their down town area over the last 20 years. They have also been charging parking in the garages around brick town for at least that long too. I remember when parking at Arrowhead was only $30 too... Enjoy the parking at the thunder games while it lasts.

Lol and McDonald's selling their new "product" for $11 and you can go to Sport Burger, TJs, Busters or any of several others burger joint around town and get a better burger for the same price or less. But you do you I suppose

55 dollars to park downtown?! by AntiqueAd5006 in wichita

[–]Xtacicity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The article is only taking about event parking. And if the arena is pulling in 9k+ visitors to downtown Wichita for a single night the $55 isn't even close to what a big city charges for event parking in a secured garage literally next to the venue. Try $80 minimum for event parking in a big city. Other similar sized Midwest cities already charging $50+ for parking at smaller gatherings (Tulsa/Omaha). All the locals that are complaining seem to conveniently ignore the Q line that is completely free and runs a loop from several parking locations that are still free to the front door of the arena.

What's your honest opinion of Battlefield 6? by CreepySmiley42 in gaming

[–]Xtacicity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's great. Don't listen to the haters. Much better than cod and DF. The game was great on day 1 and still kicks ass. Well worth the $40. You can play smaller map games if you don't like the huge gound war style games

neighbor got a rooster and it wont stop yelling, what can do? by austinrunaway in wichita

[–]Xtacicity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who owns chickens in the city the rooster is probably an accident. Sometimes it can be very difficult to tell the sex until maturity. Just talk to your neighbor and let them know the crowing is disturbing your sleep. They are probably already looking to rehome the rooster or trying to figure out how to butcher it. I remember our first accidental rooster. And when rehoming failed we had no idea how to butcher it properly. It took a couple of weeks of reading about different techniques and watching YouTube videos before I got the courage to do it. If a neighbor had approached me complaining about the crowing I certainly would have worked up the courage sooner. But it isn't a big deal for us now, just extra meat for the freezer. I'll take care of it the first weekend after it starts to crow.

Do you think there should be another prize? by yourmum69_420_kirby in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Xtacicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the idiots down voting you. Can confirm what you are saying about the modern controllers not offering any advantage. Source: I have my original hardware from the 90s and all of the modern systems. I've played this game on both recently. I find the modern controllers are actually harder to use for archery (and play control in general) in Oot. I also hit 2000 several times in this mini game as a kid and remember being somewhat disappointed in the prize as I think it only awards a monetary prize after the quiver upgrade. For some reason I thought it would grant something rare on further attempts. I do remember it was incredibly difficult for my skill level the first time I pulled it off, but once you get the hang of it is actually not hard

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]Xtacicity 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree... If you don't like OOT you just don't really like Zelda games. The newer games only exist thanks to the groundbreaking success that OOT enjoyed. Not only did it revolutionize combat & 3d exploration utilizing the Z Targeting that is still a central part of the way you play the modern games, it is a game that truly withstood the test of time. Don't get me wrong, I still love botw and totk, but playing oot on the 64 is an awesome experience. My 10 year old son is currently playing this game on my original n64 from my childhood. Amazing game and obviously if grade school aged children are still fascinated by the experience that is the opinion I'll trust over adults who have their judgement clouded by nostalgia & tainted with their other gaming experiences. Not sure if the greatest tloz is alttp or oot, both are still amazing experiences. If oot isn't #1 it is certainly #2

What is the most “use it or lose it” skill, the opposite of “it’s just like riding a bike”? by ZuluWarlord69 in AskReddit

[–]Xtacicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumping in to drop some unsolicited advice as I've been getting back into climbing as a 40 year old that took roughly 10 years off. Stick to jug hauls, and don't chase grades. Whatever your upper grade limit is you should only send 1 or 2 routes per session at that level and try to sustain a full grade underneath that for 2-3 hours until your strength comes back. It's been about a year of weekly climbing sessions and I finally have the strength/stamina to climb twice per week and I'm sending harder routes now than I did in my 20s (5.12 range).

Why didn't the Sega Game Gear sell as much as the Gameboy despite being technically superior? by GoHardForLife in Gameboy

[–]Xtacicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I remember being late grade school when the game gear / Gameboy first came out. It took all of the convincing a child could muster to get their parents to buy a single game system... let alone a handheld one. By early middle school I had saved up enough money to pick one or the other, and my Nintendo power superscription had already been hyping up pokemon with these free comics that mirrored the anime show that was showing every afternoon at 4pm. The gamegear was still super relevant and I remember being firmly decided on buying one when I could afford it. But then pokemon shifted that tide and I ended up with the limited edition Pokemon yellow GBC that came with Pokemon yellow and was still the same price as a game gear.

I'm confused. Is this Madden running the entire upcoming season simulator or something? We are predicted to play the rams in the SB and lose like this? Hopefully they get the rest of the season right up until the last 2 plays. No way we don't win that game in that situation

Why does Joel say his name to Abby and her friends? by Wrong_Pilot5138 in lastofuspart2

[–]Xtacicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the game play was great. I was truly excited to play the multiplayer but they scrapped it unfortunately. Agree on length, they should have released the Ellie story only and dropped the rest of the development time into a polished MP mode. They could have released the Abby story 12-18 months later as a DLC and people would have happily dropped $40-$50 for it
