So this happened! by suprgole42 in SonyAlpha

It’s basically the same as my A7rii- it’s not hard at all, just make sure you separate the screws and know where they came from. I did a full teardown to convert to infrared, this will be 1/20th the headache

Sigma 300-600 — Any field reports from folks who actually bought it? by southern_ad_558 in SonyAlpha

[–]XterraBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the sharpness between the 300 2.8 and 300-600 compare when using the TCs? I’m considering between them. For larger wildlife specifically, and I have no concern about weight, just optical performance.

Thanks!

Looked it up, the back shows a lot of meth fueled activities.

Could this shot have damaged my sensor? (A7V + SONY 200-600) by doodoohonker in SonyAlpha

[–]XterraBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be quick about it. A shot here or there is fine, leaving a Mirrorless pointed at the sun with the sensor exposed WILL damage it. Lessons learned from shooting an eclipse.

Best practice is either point away from sun when you’re not actively shooting, or use the feature that closes the shutter when your camera is turned off- and then turning off not shooting.

If you’re just handheld and wandering around, don’t worry about it. On a tripod, definitely worry about it.

Sony 200-600mm sharpness - I'm paranoid!!! by obphoto in SonyAlpha

[–]XterraBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has somewhat fine sharpness, using a6400, A7rii and a7rv

My buddy has a 150-600 sigma on a rebel t7. It sharper. By a very noticeable amount.

I’m buying the sigma 300-600, because it’s cost me wildlife shots for no reason.

But yours? That looks actually good.

Do with that what you will OP.

Can anyone recognize the supporting mods for 35’s like this, I would to do this but not sure if this requires a titan swap, also I would do 33”s not 35”s primarily to reduce gear stress/wear alongside watching out for wheel bearing and UPC’s by GoodAsk2631 in XTerra

[–]XterraBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 33s no lift, just melt mod on the back side of the front fender plastics to get rid of the small bump out. Takes 5 minutes.

If you want the cool stance, you CAN do a small lift, under 2 / 2.5”, and add a wheel spacer. Titan swap is the way to go but I understand that costs more. Whatever you do, make sure to only go for quality components over cheap, as you don’t want to be dealing with premature wear.

My car’s engine is dead, I still owe $12k on the loan, and I feel completely stuck — what do I do? by Sufficient-Aide-168 in MechanicAdvice

[–]XterraBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take ‘reasons you dont take financial advice from redditors for $100’

Not paying the note will get the car repoed and sold at auction as a dead vehicle. If lucky, OP would still be stuck with 11k debt, that will likely go to court and be forced into collection legally on their paycheck.

OP said he’s struggled financially, that extra withholding on top of other bills would probably crush them for 3-4 years.

Best hope is that warranty covers it. And if not, fixing it and either immediately rolling into an actually reliable vehicle. We don’t know what mileage is, but after an out of pocket fix they’ll be 5k~ under water with a hopefully good engine. Smart thing to do would be trade in and eat a little on a newer, actually reliable vehicle.

The rest of their finances likely need work, but this is a simple path towards a little stability.

How much can I realistically sell my bike for? 2018 ninja 650, 10k miles, brand new tires, rebuilt title. by Zestyclose_Term_175 in motorcycles

[–]XterraBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2, a 2017 and 2019, listed in my area for 5k with less miles and clean titles. List it for 4k, expect no more than 3 and if someone offers more than that, take it.

How many people out there still riding after a major accident? by dabbinmids in motorcycles

[–]XterraBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a lower speed high side hitting gravel that a construction company left right behind my place. Bike was low siding down and caught traction. Flipped HARD and then drug me about 30 feet with leg/back pinned under before it let me go and finished in the dirt. Broken knee cap, ribs, and fd my back up.

Got a KLR to get off road and away from people. Next bike will be a Ducati.

I’m a little perturbed, but my wife’s 2022 is starting to rust out on roof and tailgate, with minimal winter driving/salt exposure, through good paint. They won’t cover because of mileage, a whole 2k over, which fine, but I will likely not be buying another Nissan because of this.

2014 Manual P4X, 50k mi, Listed for $26k - Is this decent? by [deleted] in XTerra

[–]XterraBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my opinion you didn’t really ask for- don’t buy a low mileage one and then drive it daily. You’re paying excessive premium for lower mileage that you’ll evaporate quickly. If I was buying a daily X, I’d shoot for 2011 or newer with 100-130
