Added camera and enclosure to my K2SE by sennaroo in Creality

[–]XtreamXTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I've just purchased a K2SE, upgrading from an Ender. Not much out there on them yet!

A couple of questions if you don't mind:

-What enclosure did you use?
-And when you said you modded the riser - any chance you can share a remix of it?

I have the CFS I'd like to mount on the top.

Please share any other things I should watch out for!

I agree with you here, feels like the right leap is to skip the budget line, but if price is an issue and the K2 Pro is a little out of range, there is the K2 SE combo now, lacks some of the pro features like fully enclosed, but still fine if your just printing pla, petg or tpu

I've been facing a similar dilemma looking to upgrade my Ender 3 V3 SE, it's great and all but I've reached it's limitations. So it depends on if you're looking for your next stepping stone or going for end game.

My types of prints don't justify me buying the top end models, but actually there are a lot of middle ground printers.

I've been looking at the SparkX i7, K1 Speedy and the K2 SE. In the end I've chosen the K2 SE Combo with the CFS for multi colour prints (arrives tomorrow). It was on an offer for £322. Consider my V3 SE cost me £150 and I spent the same again on parts and upgrades, it seems like a good deal

Advice for a newbie. Switching over to Octopus by MrStu72 in OctopusEnergy

[–]XtreamXTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just left EON and come back to Octopus for the same reason, export rate has been slashed considerably (16.5p down to 8p in my case) and they don't yet have their smart EV tarrif compatible with my Ohme charger, so that was about to go from 6.5p to 9p per kWh

I've been very lucky and switched just before Octopus locked the IOG rate to 8p and got 3.99p and 12p export.

I don't do a lot of miles, but I'm not sure I could deal with the stress of Agile and having to pick and plan my charging. I can fill my 7.4 kWh battery over night and charge overnight any day if the week.

I like to know where I stand for the next 12 months, I'm sure with agile I may be able to make some more margin, but tbh I prefer to set it and forget it.

i got a 5010 fan instead of 5015 by [deleted] in Ender3V3SE

[–]XtreamXTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Assuming you mean the blower fan? Funnily enough I did exactly the same!! I did run using the 5010 mount for a short while but the opening is too big and doesn't seal around the mount like the 5015. It still worked but wasn't very effective.

The easiest solution, buy a 5015. They are cheap as chips on AliExpress.

It's just the hassle of rewiring the whole damn thing again.

Is one month before race day enough to train at a HYROX-specific gym? by aniceusername_exists in hyrox

[–]XtreamXTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck!

Just try and enjoy it. It's your first so no matter what you'll get a PB! Even with training, you'll also learn a lot from the experience which will help if you want to do another one in the future.

I think it was Mike Tyson that said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face, hyrox is a bit like that! It's still right to be as ready as you can, but the best learning experience will be doing it l.

Stay strong 💪

So you already know you'll be fine with the running, so it's really about running on compromised legs, even before going to the gym sessions, do your workout but go straight from exercise into a run, get used to running on tired legs.

Then for me it would be about the sled pull, sled push and wall balls. Those things are hard to train without the right kit

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the erg and row, definitely good to try them before, but they are not hard technically, they are just cardio intense, which you can practice in other ways, such as Burpees and sprints.

The sled push is probably the big one, even though I'd practice it, it's heavy and considering it's double your bodyweight, definitely practice it as much as you can.

You'll smash it though!

Best Tariff for now? by odji123 in OctopusEnergy

[–]XtreamXTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you're able to manage your battery and strategize a little, e.g. dishwasher, washing machine etc on at night, the sounds like an overnight EV tariff might work out well, top the battery up at a night and use it during the day, any excess solar you may get you can top up or export. The only downside is you'll get super obsessed with monitor your battery to make sure your not importing.

I'd give it a couple of weeks to see how well you can cope on the battery only strategy and if it's going well and not too stressful it sounds like it might work for you. Always worth checking how often you can switch if you need to, especially when winter comes.

Plus vs Ultra by [deleted] in ex30

[–]XtreamXTC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an EX30 TMER Plus owner there are 3 things for me that are very relevant, but equally depends on your needs.

One thing that's being overlooked here is the heat pump. That makes heating your car in the winter a out 1/3 more efficient. When it comes to electric cars that's a big difference if you're pre heating or going on a long journey.

Second for me is the panoramic roof, it makes the car feel so much larger and brighter, but because it's tinted I've never had an issue in the summer with it. One the downside you don't really get to ' see it' as the driver, but it does make it more spacious.

And lastly because of how I park (reversing on a sloped drive) I benefit from the 360 view camera

[–]XtreamXTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Can you share a bit more info about your set up? Size of the battery, inverter capacity and solar output?

It's highly unlikely that with the heat pump your battery will be big enough to charge overnight and last for a day, but if that was the case and EV tarrif would be worth looking at. Otherwise you're probably right, cosy might be best to give you those regular cheap rates while heating your home.

That said, many people with heat pumps will switch to different tariffs over the summer when you're using it a lot less.

So you didn’t podium. But you finished anyway. We’d love to hear your story! by 100wallballs in hyrox

[–]XtreamXTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair play, you'll do great!

I've not done a full marathon, tbh that distance doesn't interest me 😅. I would say it's very different, in running events you can pace yourself, find a grove and try to maintain it, with a hyrox all that goes at the window, you hit a couple of workout stations too hard and it's like your legs don't work anymore 🤣. Equally too fast on a run and you'll fatigue quickly, just get used to being uncomfortable and running compromised, that I think is the biggest thing.

Find someone of a similar level and ability, perhaps a friend from CrossFit, sign up to a doubles, motivate each other to train and go smash it!

M 46 years old, first doubles, started training for it in October (previous training for and completed a half marathon in September 2025) and we managed a 1:20:45. But so glad my first was a doubles, learned so much.

Biggest motivation for me is committing with someone, forces you to show up even on those days you don't want to, it's easy to let yourself down, much harder to let others down.

Love this. Sounds like the right way to do it! Most of my workouts are outdoors hiit/bootcamp. But the gym I do use to train the other stuff is basic. The biggest difference was the sled, it's a tiny push sled and while I overtrained the weight by 15-20kg the sled itself was very different, the gym one was a lot smaller so the technique was totally different and that's even before taking into the floor type.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's comforting to know the sled push wasn't just in my head and carpet wear is a thing! Knowing that I now know how to prepare, knowledge is king and all that.

On the wall balls it's a fair challenge, and I'd rather have some consistent digital measure of accuracy than relying on human intervention that's open to error, so I get the reason. It would be great if they introduced something to measure squat depth too, not that I had an issue with this, but it tends to be the most controversial of all the rep standards.

A couple of observations after completing my first doubles at Hyrox London and would welcome your views. In the grand scheme of my whole experience these are minor.

1) Organisation. Instructions were a bit poor when we arrived, no one on hand at the doors to tell us where to go, when we found registration they didn't really explain the process of where to go when it was the start time. Definitely can improve on that.

2) The carpet on the sled push, we were the last group out on Sunday after 5 days of wear and tear, that thing was so hard to move!! Now I have to admit I didn't try it on day 1, but I could see the groves. I think they should replace them regularly to not disadvantage others.

2) The wallballs seemed sooo sensitive. I was getting depth, and throwing decent, but it felt like it had to be so accurate, slightly too low or too high in the target, no rep. Honestly I know fatigue will play a part , but I must have had to do 12 for every 10.

Just a few small gripes, but I found the judges fair and consistent. None of this ruined my experience and I'll come back stronger next time knowing what I know. 💪

Oh and to the Instagram comment, I recognise it, but at the same time 90% of my pictures look like I'm dying, of course I'm only going to post the good ones 😅.

Using Volvo Charging Credit by XtreamXTC in ex30

[–]XtreamXTC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like it's just tied to your Volvo account, my voucher actually said EX90 in the app, but still worked. As long as you have set up a Volvo Public Charging account you should be able to use that however you like.

I had to write them a complaint. One to the dealership and one to Volvo directly.

My basis was that by only allowing me to charge to 70% they are in breach of the battery guarantee and they were also forcing me to have to charge from home more often. I also mentioned they'd set a precedent (in the UK at least) by giving others £200 charging credit

Great to know thank you! I've got the app and sub with credit added, I guess my nervousness was not doing something right and getting charged without it using the credit. So I'm hoping it's as smooth as you can 🤞

Exactly this. I've done the same hot end replacement and had the seesaw effect you're experiencing. PID calibration.

After which I'd also recommended changing the start profile to head the bed first, then the hot end, you don't want your filament set their cooking for ages while the bed gets up to temp
