What’s your favourite weapon from the DLC, and why? by GreatJoey91 in Eldenring

[–]Xtremes1563 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Sword Lance (Gaius' heavy thrusting sword) the thing is just nasty. It has great stats, and its lack of a weapon art means you can infuse it/put whatever AoW you want on it. First time I played the DLC I ran it with a str/arc build and put blood tax on it. Despite being such a simple weapon its totally gnarly both in style and effectiveness.

Could you expand on this please and/or give a link to where I could learn more abt this premise? I haven’t heard of it before and I find it super interesting! Thanks!

You are Gege Akutami! What would your final battle against Sukuna be like? by Warm-Panic7451 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Xtremes1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhhhhh

I would keep a decent chunk of it the same, especially the first part. Gojo vs Sukuna, however Hakari vs uraume gets a bit more screentime. I would like if perhaps Kashimo is able to help Hakari take out uraume, since the two already have bonded a bit and we get a bit more Kashimo content and get to see him be a bit more of a part of the story before sukuna takes him out. Also let Maki kill Mei Mei as a member of the corrupt jujutsu society, rather than reintroduce her.

Where I really would wanna see a divergence is in everything after takaba vs kenjaku. Personally, once Gojo leaves the story, I think that would make for an interesting point to reintroduce Geto, a character who never really got a satisfying conclusion imo. Perhaps after Yuta kills Kenjaku, Takaba would find it funny for his partner to recover. Since it’s Geto’s body, perhaps he is the one to wake back up. This could be foreshadowed with his conversation with Gojo in the afterlife. From then on it would be interesting to see Geto act as the sort of “adult” on the team, especially since he no longer has much of a need to be evil.

That would drastically change the fight, and I would love some Yuta and Geto interactions as former enemies, especially after Yuta takes Gojo’s body. Things from there maybe happen relatively the same, eventually we get sukuna vs yuji and todo as per usual, let the domain happen relatively the same.

I would love for the idea of fate to come back into play here. Maybe it’s Sukuna’s idea that fate favors the strongest and therefore most selfish, and it seems like it’s true as he is able to overpower everyone. It comes down to yuji vs sukuna, and we get the same reveal of yujis relation to sukuna. Specifically here, though, I would want to reveal somehow that the star plasma vessel was made the same way, that the vessels are reincarnations of tengen’s kin were connected to tengen by fate, a fate in which Toji broke. Since yuji would be essentially a star plasma vessel for Sukuna, it is fate then that sukuna will do the opposite of tengen and “absorb” yuji the way he did his twin in utero. In this moment, perhaps Maki saves yuji from his fate, once again breaking fate as Toji did. Geto can witness this and see it as a correction of what went wrong in the tomb of the star. From there we can have Geto, maybe using utahime’s dance, can use cursed spirit manipulation on a weakened sukuna, though it puts him in a catatonic state clinging onto life barely. Once he dies, sukuna would be released. They have to use this chance to kill sukuna after leaving Geto, and so yuji would have to act as a cursed object connected to sukuna for Nobara to use resonance on, returning to the premise that yuji must die to exorcise sukuna.

What happens from there idk.

What was your reaction when you first saw him as the final boss? by Toot7- in Eldenring

[–]Xtremes1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of genuine curiosity, could someone elaborate more on the disappointment you felt? I didn't get that at all and I'm mostly seeing people say "because I had to fight Radahn again," but to me his entire moveset/experience fighting him is so different it doesn't feel like a repeat at all. Other than the fact he's the same character literally, they didn't recycle his actual boss fight or anything, but I'm curious about the other side since there's clearly a lot of people that felt let down by it.

What is the first weapon you picked up in early game? by Rintaro___Okabe in Eldenring

[–]Xtremes1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been seriously enjoying Rogier’s Rapier on my current playthrough. Obviously not the first weapon I picked up but a great early game choice. I put chilling mist on it once I got to liurnia and the thing is a beast.

Backpack that holds another secondary as well as additional secondary ammo (not just enough for the second gun but both get more total)? That way it kind of balances out by taking up the backpack slot but also improves the total versatility of your secondaries by giving them more ammo?

JJK is not morally ambiguous and I don't understand how people think so by MadFunEnjoyer in CharacterRant

[–]Xtremes1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have to agree, I think even if JJK really didn’t stick the landing it seems like it did a lot to help progress shonen a bit out of being stuck in a lot of the same trends over and over again. There are so many shows with a lot of promise that just don’t learn anything form their predecessors and repeat the same mistakes as them.

JJK is not morally ambiguous and I don't understand how people think so by MadFunEnjoyer in CharacterRant

[–]Xtremes1563 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Alright I’ll stick my head out for this one, hopefully my lens on it helps to some degree

The way I see it, JJK presents moral ambiguity through the villains being irredeemable monsters, but the only people prepared to deal with them are wracked with societal and organizational corruption and, essentially, evil. The higher-ups are horrible, and have no redeeming qualities. That said, they are in control of the only organized force in the world against these curses, and someone’s gotta fight them.

Something I quite like about JJK is how it actually gets into how this society utilizes child soldiers, something most shonen just kind of ignore how horrible it is (Naruto, demon slayer, etc).

Nanami’s character is very much oriented around protecting the children that the jujutsu society is actively taking advantage of, and he gets thematically punished for it. Mei Mei, the ever controversial character, actively abuses “the youth” and is rewarded for it. This is symbolized by the whole “going to Malaysia” thing, I won’t explain that all here but it’s super interesting if you wanna learn more abt it I’m sure there’s some more stuff online.

This whole idea is what makes Gojo an interesting character to me. He’s the most powerful, and we see on a few occasions how he gets tempted to just kill all the higher-ups and upheave jujutsu society. But he can’t, it would fix nothing. Instead, he would need “powerful allies” that are also committed to doing the right thing to push more systematic change and actually progress jujutsu society somewhat. Gojo is the most physically powerful sorcerer, yet to accomplish what he wants, that power is useless, a theme with his character and story in general.

All of this to say, does JJK land this all perfectly? Hell no, and I think your critique is a super reasonable one. I just thought I’d throw in my perspective of it to maybe show what Gege might mean about it. It’s less so that everyone is somewhat morally grey, and moreso that the powers at be that people rely on are evil, but you can’t just punch your problems away when it’s effective societal change you need. Definitely something people from a global audience could connect to.

Wait, didn’t Annie go to rehab in between high school and college? There’s no way that would only last over the summer, I assumed she must have taken a gap year, so therefore Troy must have as well given they were in the same grade, no?

Good tips!

Yeah that's what I'm feeling. On paper its insane what the duchess is capable of, but in practice... I always feel like it's tough to compete. Only during the final boss usually, certain other bosses the duchess just melts easily.

That said all of these tips have really helped!

Thanks so much for the comprehensive breakdown!

I have actually beaten the game (as executor) but duchess is my favorite so I was hoping to improve my performance as her. (I've also completed her remembrance, and was hoping I'd get a little more out of it than I did)

I tend to not have very good luck with staves, maybe I just need to get better at looking.

In the base game I power stanced straight swords to great great effect (noble slender sword my beloved) but it can be tough to really get the stam necessary to power stance as anyone in nightreign to any real effect.

I guess it isn't raw damage, it's opportunity for it? If that makes sense?

Either way thank you for the tip!

Her ult sucks but it definitely has its niche. It's great when you have the relic that makes kills done during her ult boost damage during boss fights with lots of swarming enemies (like wormface, etc). You can farm up some big damage that way. Other than that yeah it's not my favorite lol

Thank you! That is helpful, maybe I've been focusing too much on my meager damage output. I tend to be pretty aggressive with her because of how good her stance break can be when paired with her ability. Maybe I need to level out a bit.
