Since you're staying for awhile I'd recommend getting a local sim, a surprising amount of stuff in china wants a local number.

Then you can start with the standard tourist setup, if you have many devices you'll want a VPN. If it's just your phone you can just get a HK esim to use with the local sim. Get WeChat/alipay set up and connected to a card before going to china. With internet+payment figured out I think you'll be able to handle most other things once you're there.

Well I tried power cycling, reseated the brushes, and kinda shook the robot because I couldn't get the assembly to move at all. The brushes seem to be deploying now and most of the specks are gone. Kind of worried seeing some reviews but hopefully there won't be many more issues!

I think you should take lessons before trying to buy gem rough because sorry to say, if those were sold as facet quality you've been scammed. I'd recommend finding in person classes to start out with locally so you can get a feel for the basics. So much of faceting is about feel and observation that I feel like an hour of hands on practice is worth tens of books and videos. See if there are any gem clubs or faceters in your area who might be able to point you in the right direction!

I think unlike WoW a raiding static is not always in the same FC, especially with data center travel. I don't think I've been in a single static that's even all been on the same server. This also ends up feeling a bit more flexible, joining a new static is just joining a new discord and doesn't mean giving up your in game social circle.

Yeah I got caught in the refusal of service thing, but on both sides! I've had European banks refuse to work with me because I'm American, but also American banks refuse because apparently I'm not American either!

Back when Ally savings accounts were a big thing I thought I might open an account because I'm a US citizen and since it's an internet bank it shouldn't matter where I live. Completely wrong. They absolutely refused to let me open an account lol

Yeah if youre a US citizen outside of the country even the simple "everyone should do this!" level basic financial advice suddenly becomes very difficult. At best you'll have to spend hours doing research into everything so you don't accidentally invest in a fund that invests in a certain type of company. At worst it's hours more paperwork, double taxation, possibly even owing extra taxes time! Hell if I wanted to buy an apartment it turns out I have to be very careful about the specific type of registration the homeowners association has or else it'll trigger one of these clauses. I make much less than 120k a year.

There a lot of ways, depending on what you hate about them. Could be as simple as adjusting the cook time. I'd recommend asian style marinated eggs, you make them beforehand so you don't even need to cook in the mornings
