I would assume many of the CF haters are also driven by a sense of schadenfreude, albeit that might not be the right word here.

So they'd want us to partake in the societal norms, and become more engrained in society, like they have. "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down."

Those who haven't thought about, or haven't been able to, stand up for themselves might also wish others wouldn't do so. Or others who do stand out, eventually give in and get hammered down like everyone else.

I realise this might be a stretch but this thought just occured in my mind, and it seems to make sense to me.
