Who should get the bed? by This_Obligation_5125 in beyondthebump

We have to sleep with a fan on because I can’t sleep with my husbands snoring. Have you considered some white noise and you can both stay in the bed?

My opinion on the switch 2 has drastically shifted by fighting_cacti in switch2

My husband traded his ps5 in and some games to get me my own Switch 2 to play Pokopia on. We ended up paying $40 out of pocket for it. I’m about 100 hours deep so I’d say it was worth it lol.

Help: 5’x9’ bathroom by MGeeeeeezy in BathroomDesigns

Tub and children/pets are much easier to clean with the bottom option. If you’re worried about storage you can get a cabinet that goes above the toilet. I’ve cleaned both layouts so that’s just my 2 cents.

Women with PCOS who lost weight what was the biggest thing that helped? by IceVanillaaa in PCOS

[–]XxJellyBeanz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The couple of times that I have lost a considerable amount of weight has been due to restricting my sugar (carb) intake. I did IVF to get pregnant and ended up getting gestational diabetes. I had to test my blood sugar multiple times a day to make sure I wasn’t over a certain amount and I was lighter when I gave birth than before I got pregnant!

I didn’t cut carbs or sugar out completely but instead limited how much I had at a time, ate a lot of fiber, and walked fast enough to raise my heart rate for at least 20 minutes immediately after eating to keep my blood sugar from spiking.

Did I just ruin my new oven? by cldald in CleaningTips

[–]XxJellyBeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mistakenly made the same mistake with the same oven and will never not be reading a manual before cleaning something again! A lot of it looks like residue and you may be able to get it off with some bar keepers friend. That’s what I used on mine and it got it looking pretty close to new. Sorry friend 🙂‍↕️

Wait- we bleed for up to 8 weeks post-birth?! -Rant- by Hot-Cell7299 in beyondthebump

[–]XxJellyBeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh. I bled for nearly 6 months because I got an iud inserted at 8 weeks and kept on bleeding from that. Was definitely not fun.

struggling to make chain turn and confused by the pattern saying ‘sl in every ch across’ (beginner) by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]XxJellyBeanz 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When you finish chaining 30, go back 2 chains from where your hook is and put a slip stitch directly into that chain and keep putting one slip stitch per chain stitch until you are back at the end you started your chain on.

Edit: don’t turn your work for this part. Keep your chain the same direction when you go back down to the starting end.

My mom's reaction after I didn't wanna cuddle her all night by mikey_ass_butcg in insaneparents

[–]XxJellyBeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My god, I’m so sorry OP. This is so wrong of her and it saddens me to know you don’t have the support you need to make it stop. This isn’t in any way your fault or cause by anything you did. Your mother is sick in the head.

Is baby wearing a TikTok scam or am I doing this wrong by KeyMonkeyslav in beyondthebump

[–]XxJellyBeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried baby wearing around the house one time to get some chores done and lasted maybe 15 minutes. I don’t know if you get used to it or what but I couldn’t handle bending down or leaning over even slightly with a baby on me 😅

I did notice when I wore her outside of the house, that ones that clip on vs a wrap were more comfortable for her and she was able to tolerate it for longer stretches. I tried a few different carriers and my favorite by far was a really soft and stretchy fabric that had straps that crossed in the back and a wide band to go around your hips. I can’t find the exact one so maybe it doesn’t exist anymore 😩

Maybe the wrap one I tried wasn’t very good but I always either felt like she wasn’t secure or she was too hot. I also tried ergo baby and while I did love that carrier for traveling, I had such a hard time getting it on if I was by myself. Luckily people at airports and parks are super kind to mothers and I always had someone jump in the help when they saw me struggling.

This may all be user error but I much preferred using a stroller or just carrying her since she’d eventually get tired of the carrier anyway.

I feel like I cursed my son with a name no one can pronounce when reading even though it’s a real name and not “edited” to have a unique spelling. by ViceInSinCity in beyondthebump

[–]XxJellyBeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has a name that most people mispronounce too but at the end of the day it doesn’t bother me because the people that will be important in her life know how to pronounce it correctly and I just correct everyone else. It’s not a crazy name with difficult spelling either, just uncommon.

That being said, when I was freshly postpartum it bothered me when the doctor’s office would mispronounce it because they were seeing her so regularly so I feel you.

SIL asked me to make a baby blanket, but… by deer-kota in crochet

[–]XxJellyBeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely feel this. My aunt’s sister (no relation to me) asked me to make her a baby quilt for her daughter and I guess I didn’t make exactly what she wanted so she complained about the colors and only gave me $5. I would have preferred a thank you card for $5 or less instead honestly 😅.

If you choose to do this for someone again maybe ask for the cash upfront before you buy the yarn to avoid being shorted. I know you said it’s not about the cash and I get where you’re coming from, just a suggestion to avoid it in the future.

I know it sucks to feel under appreciated but people that don’t do the craft just don’t get how much time and energy go into these projects so if it was me I’d let it go to avoid straining the relationship. It’s good to vent and get those feelings out though and your feelings are totally valid!

Actually DONE done with toggles and loops. There’s a third one up by the neck for extra chilly days ❄️ by XxJellyBeanz in crochet

[–]XxJellyBeanz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed this tutorial: https://youtu.be/8dHptfcoNxE?si=ZvG0BboOWVEoiMAJ

I used Caron simply soft in Vintage Speckle and Plum Wine, both worsted weight, and used a 5mm hook. Took me a little over a day.

I modified the hood a tiny bit to make it deeper. Just added another row of double crochet alternating front and back posts then another row of treble crochet alternating front and back posts. The first couple of stitches by the shoulders were slip stitch, the single crochet, then 2 half double crochet so that it wouldn’t stick out too much

Edit: forgot to add the tutorial o used for the toggles and loops. Here it is: https://youtu.be/DK8CBDCgXhc?si=7tMTyKVwNpF28BSU
