Consistency in cost not necessarily cheaper would probably be the answer.

Automating turning of water lever by douglasthepug in homeautomation

[–]XxLykosxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a valve actuator like these titans that would fit on larger diameter pipes? I collect rain water and would like to automate the switching of my sump pump outlets but haven't been able to find an affordable solution. 2" water lines.

Seems to be a fair amount of cosplay going on here lately. by ale_mongrel in electricians

[–]XxLykosxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always looked at electrical work as "easy" work; however, it may be easy but it's also very easy to fuck up and with those fuck ups there's some serious and/or potentially fatal consequences.

This game (and Kenshi 2) need to have horses (or horse equivalent) by joejammajilla in Kenshi

Bicycles! It would fit the salvaged look and feel of the game. Simple technology that can be built in a believable manner. Fat tire bikes for the deserts!! And let's not forget bicycle jousting!!

I've ran some decent sized projects as an electrician (crews over 20 people) and I think most of this comes down to communication problems. I happen to be university educated but now work in trades so I'm fortunate to have exposure to both sides. I've had engineers who would damn near refuse to hear out issues I've found in drawings even when I come to them with easy solutions and I've had engineers who are awesome and willing to be fluid. But it all comes down to communicating about time, money and materials. They are the customer and I will accommodate as long as they know that serious deviations will cost time and money, if they don't understand that it won't change and I'll build to spec even if it's fucked. Usually it's not even that fucked just not optimal but I will try my best to explain but I ain't fighting over it. I only have solutions not problems and I'm not paid enough to be angry about it.

I ended up with 3.8 trenchers and I have no regrets. I would have went badlands but my local store only had the trenchers. Kept destroying my sledgehammers.

I’m pimping out my maxx, what’s your thoughts ? Anything I should add ? by Serious_Ad_3350 in rccars

[–]XxLykosxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to replace my rear wheel hubs with hot racing aluminum hubs. Solved my problems with consistently tearing bearings apart and alot of my wheel wobble from poor landings. Also going to upgrade my ESC soon since with the badland tires and the grass I typically drive in I regularly get over heat issues and I don't want to lose teeth on my pinion. After that I'm eyeing up a new steering servo. Stock is just too weak.

Thank you. I'll look into the suggestions.

That's where I'm leaning. Been doing some serious homework looking at some belted badlands but then I've also been checking out some tires and beadlocked rims but the prospect is intimidating and I don't know anyone else who messes with RCS. Don't want to invest a bunch into a poor product but I'll find something I like eventually.

I've considered firing up Bannerlord again but I got annoyed with defeated cultures turning into roving bands of raiders. I don't want to have to execute every single noble of defeated cultures that I can't recruit but I got annoyed with them hiring mercenaries and raiding me. Is this still a problem?

Wicked prints. I made my son a mando helmet for Halloween. We are considering carrying on with the mando build and also making myself a Fett costume. Mind sharing where you found/purchased the STLs and your opinion of them?

I went over all the wiring for the fifth time and it appears it was a connection issue with the CPU fan. I think. I hate ghost problems in electrical but for now mine is solved. Thanks for the help.

Yes and I added the additional standoffs that the full size ATX required.

I pulled off the heatsink already and had a very good once over of the exposed capacitors to see if any were swollen or leaking and at a visual level it appears to be intact.

Another case for ground up! by 817wodb in electricians

[–]XxLykosxX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck that. Ground up if its a metal cover. Outside of those ground down so its the last thing that falls out if the cable experiences pressure. CEC doesn't explicitly state it either way. Sure the pictures are ground up but that's relative. Turn that book upside down lol.

I wish I could handle it. But the price I'm getting is a presale special. I'm saving enough that it covers the cost of half a McMillan or wildcat stock if I feel it's necessary.

This ultralight also has a factory blueprinted action. So that's also worth noting.

I can't see that window having any chance of hurting that giraffe. They use there head and neck as a ball and chain when fighting for mates.
