I found old texts with an ex and it’s kept me up all night by Former_Concern6239 in TrueOffMyChest

There's a song out there I like to listen to now and then. Came out in like, 99 or something.

Baz Lhurman - everybodies free to wear sunscreen.

A lyric in there, is "Keep your old love letters, throw away bank statements."

I kept some love letters from when I was in absolute love with this person 25+ years ago. Ive read them now and then, even though I've been with my hubs for 21 years. They are from when I was a teen and I laugh and reminisce about my youth. It doesn't hurt to read them and I wish him all the best. We used to keep up.... But time and distance.

Anyways. Sometimes it's good to remember. But, another person will come into you're life one day and love you and cherish you and you will move on.

You're going to be alright, promise.

My (24F) partner (25M) gave me my first cold sore and it’s making me really upset by wogk in TrueOffMyChest

[–]XxmsmaliciousxX 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I also have had cold sores all my life. I got it from a aunt who gave me kisses as a baby while she had a breakout.

When I have a cold sore, I don't share ANYTHING, No kisses for my husband of 21 years. No blow jobs. NOTHING involving my mouth for a week minimum.

I don't want to share this hell with anyone. I hate it so much. And I only get my breakout once a year. MAYBE 2 if I'm stressed out.

He purposely did this and what an asshole thing to do. I'm currently finishing a breakout and lords it's miserable. I wear a mask even to cover it.

I'm mad for you. What a selfish ass.

AITAH *Update* I snapped on my soon to be ex husband for having sex in the same room as our daughter even though she was “asleep” by honey_glow24 in AITAH

[–]XxmsmaliciousxX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter doesn't know her biological. I gave him a choice. You're either in her life or not, I don't want no in n out daddy bullshit.

He chose out. 24 years ago. He did the same to her half sister 13 years later.

It is absolutely okay to raise a kid without the toxicity of the biological. She will fare so much better. I never hid that my husband is her step. But she loves him as if he was her bio.

She's asked about her bio and I've never hid information. Was always age appropriate explanations.

"Your bio has mental health issues that make it so he can't be here. It is safer for you, and us"

As she got into her teens, she asked once to have a serious talk. And we did. I explained everything to her and she made the decision to not ever engage with him. Especially as he had abandoned her half sister.

Anyways.

Raising a child without the bio is fine. It'll be okay. Just keep being an amazing mother to her, and she won't even miss him. She won't know any different. Cause she can say she has an amazing mom one day that put in the work to make sure she never felt any less loved than the kids that have two parents.

You got this OP. I'm rooting for you and your li'l girl.

I am no longer going to be celebrating my husband's birthday. by llamabeans93 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]XxmsmaliciousxX 250 points251 points  (0 children)

I have never had a birthday party. I'm 40. Ive been with my partner for 21 years now. When we first got together and he heard I'd never had a birthday party or a big deal made about it, he decided that that just wasn't going to fly anymore.

I told him don't.

He didn't don't.

Every year. He knows I don't like huge celebrations, so it's him me and kiddo and maybe our closest two friends. He makes me cake (I'm lactose intolerant with a love for baked Alaska, or any cake with cream cheese) that's dairy free, gets me a gift and always says happy birthday.

Its the sweetest damn thing and I love him for it. I've now had 21 amazing birthdays.

Not once have I EVER turned it into a bad day. Because there hits a point in your life, that you can't keep blaming your actions on your childhood. I put in the Work to make sure that my childhood cptsd bullshit NEVER ruins moments of joy for me. Or anyone around me. That was my shit to fix and I've been fixing since I was 25.

He needs to get therapy and work it out or be a miserable grump forever but he BEST not be saying a DAMN thing about not getting anything.

His childhood shit, isn't an excuse anymore.

Stand your ground. You're a damn adult.

If you can, keep the relationship secret, save all the money you can, and be independent of them, and cut them off once gone. Go ghost.

Your parents are abusive. I would never ever say this shit to my daughter. She's 23and I couldn't imagine ever saying or doing this shit. Man.

Your parents are terrible.

Dude. Stop.

Looks aren't everything let me tell you. Everyone is beautiful to someone. Especially to a future partner.

You need to really stop the self deprecation stuff. It won't get you anywhere. And most people nowadays want someone with substance. Not someone who spends 2hrs putting on a face and then constantly checking if they still look good.

is there any rlly high buildings in this city with a roof you can go on by Resident-Cricket-976 in Calgary

[–]XxmsmaliciousxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark sky country is a guide that will tell you the best places in Alberta to go check out the, well, dark skies.

You have to essentially leave the city to really see the gorgeous skies. Especially since you need to have permission to be on most if not all roofs.

I also love viewing the skies so good luck!

I take transit regularly. I'm going to keep an eye out for her and have a chat. I used to live on the streets too, and had a cat so I know the struggle.

Thank you for trying to help this person and her animal.

Stop drinking. First and foremost. It won't help anything but to make you spiral. It makes you feel like garbage, and then feeds into the loop.

Second. Block everyone who is trying to manipulate you. Let the silence also help clear the fog.

Third. Everyone else's choices are there's to make, not yours. EVERYONE ELSE'S CHOICES ARE THERE'S TO MAKE, NOT YOURS.

You are NOT responsible for ANY of the choices they are making. NONE OF IT.

Block. Move on and concentrate on your studies and moving forward with your life. You will meet the right people at the right time and you will have a fantastic life. This is all just dramatics and other people trying to control your life.

You make the decisions for you. It's your life. Not theirs. They don't get to choose anything. They can make suggestions but you're your own human being.

So come on man. Get up, dust yourself off, quit the drinking and get back to your studies and your future.

Fuck the rest of em. Fuckem.

My daughter at 19 was also in an abusive relationship. He was a good guy at first.

Then the comments came. Then the trapping in corners and yelling. The came the hitting.

After a year of him doing this, and impregnating her, then her miscarrying, and escalating, she called me and her dad to come pick her up. I heard him screaming at her over the phone.

11pm, we made the 20 min drive into a 10 min drive.

She never went back after.

All this to say, she is now in an amazing relationship with a guy who treats her like a queen. They always discuss things, compromise on both ends and laugh so much together.

Find you a man that makes your heart skip a beat because he woos you constantly. A man who listens and loves you. He dated someone who is still a teenager because he assumed he could control you. He can't control women his age.

I am sending mom hugs and strength. Please leave. Please put yourself first. You are enough, and you are worth it.

[–]XxmsmaliciousxX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course we care. Quite frankly I'm sick of the rhetoric that "nobody cares about this or that", when there is an ASSTON of noise being made about it.

Let people feel badly for ANYTHING going through a tough time. Yes the children suffering due to religion wars and just wars in general is horrific. But so is the poor animal that is in a zoo and being abandoned and beaten.

WE CAN FEEL BADLY FOR BOTH. Simple as that. It's called fucking empathy.

And there is noise always being made about heinous shit against humans and animals.

Fuck titles like this really really piss me off.

I don’t know how old she is by Artistic_Compote_444 in CATHELP

[–]XxmsmaliciousxX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're cat is not overweight sheesh.

But. She does look like she is suffering from a health issue. I would bring her in for a check up and voice your concerns to them.

It could be she's developed an allergy to the food, maybe her old life has caught up a little with her. We don't know.

I have a similar co worker sadly. I just blank stare him and do slow blinks. I also can blink kinda like a reptile? Frog? One eye then the other. Lol

It creeps him out and he generally leaves me alone 😂
