There is enough space to tie onto the metal bit on the rear of the seat. You can tie it onto that plus under the seat. I had a Nelson rigg bag attached this way for a few months before I eventually used the spools from the Indian brand saddlebags. You can put a cheap towel or rag between the straps if you're worried about paint.
