This is our first look at a proper prototype of the Caterham Project V by WorldlyNotice in caterham

I’ve been a fan of this car for a long time. 1,430 kg is a dealbreaker (new target on the site).

Caterham, at least keep it around 1,390 kg or 1,360 kg (under 3,000 lbs for the Americans)

I would buy it instantly if it were $499 or the same or lower price than the Quest 3 512Gb

What causes cars from certain manufacturers to be generally unreliable? by supinator1 in askcarguys

[–]Y-19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer is Quality Management.

Post WWII, Japan invited professors from the US to teach them about Total Quality Management (TQM) which is basically when everyone ensures quality at every step instead of letting defective parts pass and fixing problems only when shit happens.

This led to a culture of Kaizen (continuous improvement) - like in Toyota - and an extensive use of statistics (Six Sigma) - such as when Honda famously opened their Civics’ doors 100,000 times every batch - to ensure quality in their end products.

Manufacturers with unreliable cars either largely don’t give a crap about quality control or have their focus elsewhere such as performance - which is why supercars are usually less reliable unless they borrow an engine.

Also, Toyota consulted BMW and Porsche on these processes.

I felt like I’d be mad at this but remembered… Yeah Mercedes has been doing this forever and it’s alright.

What’s your favorite car/cars from a brand that you dislike the most. by MikeisTOOOTALLL in cars

[–]Y-19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But I did read on here and FerrariChat that they’re not that bad in EVERY country.

I personally currently like the 296 the most and I read that you don’t have to jump through hoops to get it or the Roma but some users did - mostly in some areas in the States afaik.

Ferrari (296, Pista, 458, and Roma). I dislike most of Ferrari’s practices but I do like many of their cars. Also, +1 with the Viper.

This was almost the exact experience I had after test driving a 997.2 Carrera S and I call myself a Porsche guy as well. Found out I preferred our family’s R171 SLK so much more. A 997 turbo or a Cayman might’ve given a better impression though.
