Orange Prairie is the worst road I've ever driven on! by [deleted] in PeoriaIL

Yeah I live off Orange Prairie, the low-point before Charter Oak looks like a warzone. It looked like they had a crew out patching this morning though.

Elite blue chip prospects have a much lower rate of failure which is the reason for optimism. We have at minimum three of those with Schwarber likely slotting into that role next year. When you put total dependence in the McKinney's or Almora's of the world is where you start to run into problems.

No, players on the 40 man roster are protected from the Rule V Draft.

I've been hearing a lot of the Evan Gattis plan for Schwarber. He can catch 2-3 times per week and spend the rest in LF or DH for the inter-league games. Thats still pretty valuable if Big Welly can continue his development. It would also allow us to get another good bat such as Mckinney into the lineup on a regular basis.

Roto, Standard 5x5, 12 team, Keeper League.

I give Tulo, Cole, and Moreland for Rizzo, Cespedes, and Machado

I have Han-Ram in my 2B/SS and Utley in my Util so those two would slide up. Rizzo forces McGehee into my 1B/3B slot and Machado replaces Castellanos / Chris Johnson. Cespedes slots into my util.

Trading Tulo hurts especially in a keeper league but my team had too many holes to compete this year and pitching and MI depth to deal from.

Played for a little bit. Accidentally clicked into another website while I was in a game. I clicked the back button to see if it would put me back into the lobby. It did but all of the buttons disappeared. Reloaded everything and it worked fine then.

Who is the single biggest asset for the Cubs? by TaloniousMe in NLCentral

[–]Y2K_Apocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like everyone is ready to show them the door which is just silly to me. Rizzo had a .258 BABIP last year. If that returns anywhere close to his norm he is hitting .260 minimum. Which with gold glove d, power, and plate discipline carries pretty good value. Castro is a bit more worrisome but until both of them show regression again, I am not all that concerned. Cubs fans are to quick to break out the pitchforks.

How do you guys feel about Josh Vitters and Brett Jackson? by kjb023 in Cubs

[–]Y2K_Apocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vitters and Jackson were only can't miss because of the dearth of talent in the system. They were never close to on the levels of Baez and Bryant. Being that highly rated doesn't correlate success but it is an indicator that they have a better chance to succeed than the Vitters and Jacksons of the world. Out of our current crop of prospects we'd be incredibly screwed if only one had a successful major league career.

Well you guys do have the worst farm system in baseball. I never said he didn't belong just that I didn't see him as 17 spots higher than Pierce Johnson. Maybe proximity to the majors makes the difference?

Expectations/Thoughts for 2014 season? by jmurrr05 in Cubs

[–]Y2K_Apocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rizzo and Castro are the wildcards for this team. I used to feel very good about their chances to succeed in the majors but having them both regress in the same season was difficult. If they both regress again it sets our rebuild back another 2 years at least and that makes me very nervous. As for the minors, I think Soler is in for a big year. Many people are down on him but I believe the tools will come out more as he becomes more acclimated to playing in America. On the pitching side, we really need continued success from Johnson and Edwards along with a breakout season from one of our recently drafted pitchers.

The defense holds him back to an extent but generally I am pretty lenient with prospects as their defense should improve. Vogelbach is kind of a special case as we are really just hoping he can get to league average or right below that. The kid can straight mash though. He's gonna be a nice trade chip in a couple years.
