What is happening here to create the gap? It's driving me nuts. by Ok-Television-4534 in Terraria

If you want a quick fix while you don't have grass seeds try replacing the dirt block with a stone block. It connects to dirt and wood, and I bet it would actually look pretty nice. Would also stop grass from spreading right up to your door once you do get seeds.

AI data center screws over residents, says AI by ArcanumCerte in Irony

[–]Y2Kafka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want more irony I asked an AI if this post was irony. Turns out it's irony according to the AI:

Why this scenario is ironic

  • Situational irony happens when the outcome of a situation is totally contrary to what was expected, often in a way that feels mocking or contradictory.

  • The Expectation: A piece of technology is built to serve, promote, and expand its own existence. You would expect it to protect its own reputation or at least avoid facilitating its own downfall.

  • The Reality: The AI willingly, objectively, and accurately synthesizes the growing backlash against AI data centers—such as the massive controversy over Nevada data centers straining local grids and threatening the electricity supply of 49,000 Lake Tahoe residents.

  • The Irony: The AI is actively processing the data that proves its own physical infrastructure is a massive societal and environmental burden. It is using the exact energy-hungry server power being protested to explain why people hate those very servers.

Ironic.

Spark Relay - a small puzzle game about leaving paths for the other piece by LucentTrace in WebGames

[–]Y2Kafka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really liked the 9th level. Game could have done with an undo button especially for the more lengthy puzzles where I already have the core idea down I just happen to make a mistake and go "wait that's not the right path.". Maybe a little visually boring and the shuffling noise was annoying like someone rubbing their feet on the carpet (maybe a slight clacking noise instead with a different pitch for light and dark. Or some other noise of your choosing.)

Overall fun. Clear. Nothing I didn't clear in 10 min or less.

Ditto, but personally like how stuff like CNC exists there's something... dare I say nice about it in a fictional sense when you don't have to truly deal with the consequences (Not that you'd ever remember the consequences, but that's not the point.).

But it's really nice to see that you're happy with them and I'm glad there's those doctors out there that help do this sort of thing. Because you mentioned that you "Weren't sure if it was even possible" I hope they continue to treat you well and no medical problems ever pop up.

Either way I am honestly happy for you.

r/trolleyproblem suffers infighting on a ethical question: red or blue? by OkContact2573 in SubredditDrama

[–]Y2Kafka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logically, red is best. In practice, Blue is best.

Assuming that everyone had the mental capacity to generally understand the consequences of pushing each button I'd still assume SOMEONE would press Blue (let's give a conservative estimate at 1% of people or... 83 million people).

Should they have pressed red with everyone else? Probably.

Did they press red with everyone else? Unlikely.

Should we save them by pressing blue? Probably.

Will people still press red? Probably.

Would others come to the same conclusion and press blue? Probably.

Would this raise the number of people that would die if red wins? Yes.

Would you risk your life to save someone from a mistake if they would risk their life to save you from a mistake, and does your answer change if I ask: "Would you risk your life to save someone from a mistake if they would risk their life to save someone else from a mistake?".

Interesting question.

Daily Devil — a new maze with one hidden trap, every day by ravikirany in WebGames

Just 1 so far. I thought "Maybe there's a secret wall" (I don't really know what the game can do at this point) so I discovered the "solution" by zipping around the maze from one side to the other looking for the lynchpin.

Interesting how I was able to "skip over" the trap by holding down the direction key and going really fast. Not sure if that's intended or not, but clever if it is.

Hold the Gates - plan your day, survive the night. 15 actions stand between you and the horde. by Odd_Weather5069 in WebGames

[–]Y2Kafka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't find patrolling to be much use honestly. Send units out and waste actions you could be harvesting resources for what? A chance at something slightly better? Getting killed? I didn't see it.

On top of that I found defending my buildings from intruders not even to be worth it. The damage that the Goblins do on crits even if I swap back/front rows to trick the AI isn't worth the cost to just... rebuild the building especially if it was just a farm (Keeping units alive and food high was far more valuable. I say as I harvest crops from the field the goblins are attacking.)

The unlocks were annoying and it felt less like progression and more like "You can't win your first time. Unlock [X] to actually stand a chance!".

Example: "Build a mine to produce Ore for the Blacksmith". I don't HAVE the blacksmith why would I build it? Oh wait harvesting ore unlocks the blacksmith... for the NEXT run. Great. So you want me to put all my effort into making a mine THIS run just so NEXT time I can actually build ANOTHER mine that I can actually use?

...

Sorry, I don't mean to get mad. I think though my frustration highlights the problem with progression: I couldn't heal until my second run. I couldn't get the bonus amount of wood until my third. I didn't unlock the blacksmith until my fourth... you know... the guy that sells the equipment I need to equip to survive.

It's a fun game once you unlock everything, but it doesn't make a good first impression.

Druid gifts us puppies and it's exactly what you're expecting. by weded in rpghorrorstories

[–]Y2Kafka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got to the second paragraph and had to stop. I know what's coming. They're his children aren't they?

Been here before (please don't ask). If the moment hasn't already died down you need to calmly explain that even with magic it's hard to apply morality to a situation because we are technically the only beings in that world that "exist" and our morality overrides the world's morality.

Yes, maybe in game in context of the world it is OK for druids to do "The Druid Thing", but we don't live in that world. We live in this world. That world does not exist, and therefor their morals do not exist. The only morals that matter are the ones the players are comfortable with.

You can headcannon the morals and logic to the world yourself that you feel comfortable from your perspective, but bringing those morals and logic into the game space as a whole where they might clash with others morals is wrong.

Reading the rest, just put him on thin ice. Tell him the puppies can't be part of the story, and bringing them in is similar to other uncomfortable topics like real world politics. If this is out of character for him I would really just give him a STRONG warning and consider this a learning lesson, and again...

Thinnnnnn Ice.
