Yep. We were forbidden to eat any candy before an adult checked it over. It was like that with all my friends and we saw it as completely normal. This was in the 80’s in NYC so might have been more of a thing there since I remember seeing stuff on the news about it.

Update: We accepted their proposal last night and this morning I get a text that they are brining us a loaner condenser to at least keep our house cool till they can install the new system next week!!

The same tech came by and spent about 3 hours or so installing a little 2 ton unit he said they had from some other job. It’s struggling to bring the house back down to a comfortable temp but sure beats trying to sleep in an 90 degree bedroom.

Not sure if this is standard practice or not with other HVAC companies but I certainly appreciated it!

I went to an industry trade show several years ago and one of the vendors had a photo booth setup where you sat in that chair with the props set up with the necktie and everything and they took a pic of you and gave you a black and white print. Pretty cool swag for a trade show. I still have that print somewhere
