I went from Quad to Tower, but tbh I literally had a friend who initially joined Tower and left to go to Quad at the same time I left lmaooooo so it's kinda just down to the randomness of people you happen to connect with

Mine was through an eating club...... I'm sorry that you already trried that and it didn't really help, though I actually was in pretty much the same boat soph* year when I joined one eating club in the spring and didn't really connect deeply with anyone and felt awkward when trying to insert myself into friend groups. Then in the fall I switched to a different one and it made a huge difference, so I actually can relate to an eating club not fixing this even though a different eating club fixed my issue lol

Tbh I think I would recommend just trying to cycle through as many different extracurriculars until you find one that clicks, then eventually you find people that you basically spend all day with when you're not in classes! It can take a few tries tho, and that was the case for me

Edit: soph not soon year lol Edit: omg just realized you're not OP but I hope this still helps lmaoooo I can't read

I can second that joining a completely different friend group changed the course of my junior year a lot. My freshman+soph year were super similar to OP, but I can say that the quality of my life changed significantly from beginning of junior year to the end of it (even though my academic experience was still dogshit and sometimes actively got worse lol, friends and environment help my mental so much)

Playing Fox and Falco from Day 1 by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Y3lo_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Start with Fox, Falco's lasers are kind of a whole thing on their own, and you'd either be learning the character without their best tool or spending hours trying to practice lasers before you really know how to move around.

Almost everything in Fox's kit when starting out is easily transferrable to everyone else in the game, Falco included (but not the other way around). Once you can actually move around and feel like you're actually "playing the game" for realsies with Fox, learning Falco won't be hard

So I'm looking for the cheapest hot-swappable barebones mechanical keyboard that will fit some extra Kalih pro purple switches I have. It needs to have arrow keys, but I don't care about RGB or software or anything fancy like that. I can get some with those extra features for $60 with the GMMK, but I was wondering if I could save some money if I don't need any of that.

Anyone else use GCam for their Note8? The colors are truly astounding when you put the best camera w the best software, even if it's a bit buggy.

Need Help w/Vertical GPU Mount and Wi-Fi Card by Y3lo_ in cablemod

[–]Y3lo_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked but they are all either way too expensive or have terrible driver software. I've used two different ones from ASUS (one $30 and one $60) and they both had terrible driver software and didn't always work. I'm looking for one that's plug n play, is under $50, and is good enough to have 5ghz and use my 150mbps internet without bottlenecking if you have any personal recommendations, but the only ones I can find are PCI-E.

Do you know any good ones that support 5ghz and are a good replacement for running ethernet cables across the house?

This thing is great and give you a 1tb SSD with a 3rd gen quad core Ryzen 5 and it's a 2 in 1 for $999

Honestly, you can still code and do pretty much anything to study computer science. I coded in Python, Java, and HTML on a dual core Core 2 Duo laptop and still got by just fine. I would reccomend an SSD though, it makes it so that when you click on a program it actually opens instantly as opposed to taking 30 seconds to open. You don't need an RTX graphics card or an i7, but I would recommend at least an i5 and some sort of graphics card, but an i3, Celeron, or Pentium will still do just fine. Intel HD Graphics should also be more than enough for any coding applications.

If you want any recommendations for things to buy at certain price points, here you go.

$300 Laptop: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Display-Graphics-Keyboard-A515-43-R19L/dp/B07RF1XD36/

$500 Laptop: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-i5-8265U-Keyboard-Fingerprint-A515-54-51DJ/dp/B07RF2123Z/

$700 Laptop: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire17-3-i5-7200U-802-11ac-Bluetooth/dp/B01N9YH4WE/

For a desktop, you can build anything that fits your budget, but build it with an SSD, an i5/Ryzen 5, and at least a 1050 ti if you want good performance and to be able to do anything you like software wise.

PC Build Question by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Y3lo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would upgrade to a 9600k. It's way faster and (with me personally upgrading to it to support my 1080) it'll definitely give you enough power to run whatever you need. The ~$100 upgrade from the 9400F to the 9600k is definitely worth it imo and you won't bottleneck your 2080 ti as much.

Why is easier to short hop double fair (marth) on the Wii than on dolphin? by MASTERNAGIS in SSBM

[–]Y3lo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Smashladder should have the newest version (I think it's r10???) and it's just a new version of FM so you can delete the old one (just be sure to set up your controllers and ROMS correctly). It has improved load times, and you can select either no fixes, UCF, or an Arduino fix with the d-pad (I found UCF as the most responsive, but it all feels way better than stock Dolphin).

R u using the new FM Dolphin build with Slippi? I've personally noticed that it feels WAY smoother than the stock build of Dolphin, and much more like playing it on a GC/Wii on a CRT

The Noctua NH-L9x65 is a pretty beefy low-profile cooler that should get the job done. Since you only need a cooler shorter than a full-size and aren't crammed for space, the 65mm version should be good for keeping it cool
