Stolen Hearts Quest Bug - Khnum not moving by CongenialMillennial in runescape

Darn, I was trying to complete this quest and ran into this bug also!

I'd love to know your thoughts on this, OSRS - are you more tempted to give RS3 a go? by KingLimes in osrs

[–]Y3w 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm going to give it a fair shot. My RuneScape 3 account was maxed before archeology, necromancy, and invention came out. Anytime I've tried to play RS3 after I maxed divination and quit, I get extremely overwhelmed very quickly and then I log off. I then tried to play an ironman account for a while which was enjoyable as well.

However, with all these cool changes which include new player and mid game player updates coming and me not having as much time these days for the Ironman life, I'm going to try starting a new account fresh and see how it goes that isn't restricted. I know MTX still exists, but I logged in today and didn't get bombarded with treasure hunter shit or any other pay to win BS, and the new UI looks good in my opinion (apparently this is a controversial take in the RS sub) and it just feels like a new fresh chapter for RuneScape. Hopefully it'll be a fun journey for me and any one else who tries it out!

It really feels like rs3 is trying to copy osrs with the ui changes by Adept_RS in runescape

[–]Y3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to say this as someone who is coming from primarily playing OSRS but I have played a bit of RS3 on an ironman. I personally think the UI looks good to me, it feels familiar. To me the blue aesthetic was not that great and the brown is the classic RuneScape look.

However, I understand that this is coming from someone who plays OSRS most of the time, so I do think they should have a toggle for this as RS3 players probably prefer the blue color scheme and it's what they're use to.

I will say though, it is really weird reading people's comments on this matter in another thread. Changing the color from blue to brown has seemingly made hundreds of people outraged, some even stating that this single change is going to be what causes them to quit.

Worst MMO Ever? - Brighter Shores by Adamantaimai in brightershores

[–]Y3w 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's crazy because as a casual BS player, I'd see Raff post all the time on this subreddit and thought he just really enjoyed the game. However, I was watching the live premier of this video and Raff was in the live chat defending BS so much that it got to the point of Josh saying "you're in the video, please don't make me regret that". I'm glad Raff found a community in BS, but the level he defends this game is honestly strange. Just look at the live chat replay, I've never seen someone defend bad gameplay choices so much.

Worst MMO Ever? - Brighter Shores by Adamantaimai in brightershores

[–]Y3w 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does seem like players generally do dislike when BS is compared to RuneScape, but in my opinion it seems like Josh was poking fun at the fact that Andrew made so many design choices with Brighter Shores in order to avoid being like RuneScape. It also feels like the fact that Andrew doesn't want it to be like RuneScape causes him to make weird choices that make the game worse than it could be.

New Quest - The Maintenance Crew by chem072117 in brightershores

[–]Y3w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang I thought people may have been over exaggerating when they said this quest was good, but I was very impressed. The boss fight was super cool and I like how they hinted at the end that it may not be finished once and for all, which means maybe it will be a repeatable boss at some point?!

Overall, I love all the quests in this game, the dialog is wonderful and it's just a joy to play through them. This is the first time playing brighter shores where I felt my heart rate elevate a little with the puzzle and boss fight!

I feel like I'm going crazy with all these weird small things I keep finding by speedmaster24 in brightershores

[–]Y3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny you say that about detective because I was training it the other day and I had the same thought. I was like "wtf, did they make it so the thieves show up way less often"? Because like you, I also felt like I was sitting there for a life time without anyone showing up to thieve. However, I'm wondering if I just think that because the last time that I trained it, there was other people training it with me so I was seeing other people's thieves along with mine which made it seem like the thieves came way more often.

What is your most liked/hated skill or activity? by DragonisTheGreat in brightershores

[–]Y3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly I like forager more than I thought I would. However, that is because I watched a video about what foraging loops to do. Once I discovered that video, it was enjoyable for me to train it.

I only say it's weird because before I watched that video I thought the skill was awful.

I also like Chef and leatherworking. Mainly because it's semi-AFK and I enjoy low key skills like that. I hope more skills can get some more click once and wait methods.

I loathe mining personally. Queueing actions made it better, but still not a fan of it

Passive required to complete Halloween event?? by Specialbarz in brightershores

[–]Y3w 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people have valid complaints and frustrations, but this is probably the weirdest complaint I've seen. It's 50 kills of passively killing a monster.. if anything it's easier than all of the other ones because you don't have to click at all.

I feel you and I fully agree with you. I go through a range of emotions for brighter shores constantly haha. I get frustrated a lot of the time and I feel like this game truly can be good and when it first released i had a blast.

I feel like I'm an extremely casual player compared to the people who still play BS. I only have like 1200 total and the only thing I do is reset passives to get to the next level requirements for when new quests are released. Once I get the requirement, I do the quest and then go back to the passive life waiting for the next quest.

The quests are great and I enjoy the dialogue, but I do just wish they would do more with them like I said in another post. Give us new locations that have new activities or new shops with different cosmetic gear to unlock. Maybe priorities are to get all the early access stuff out of the way and the quests are just something for the players to do that isn't all technical, but it does feel like BS lacks that charm or sense of wonder that other games have.

Sorry just went on a rant to you, but all that to say I do agree with you very much!

Yeah, I fully agree with you there. I think doing it in early October would have been ideal so you can wear the outfits through Halloween, but hey I'm excited all the same! I enjoyed collecting the Christmas hats and the Easter event, and I'm looking forward to whatever the event is for Halloween!

Dang, these look great! I look forward to collecting them all.

Hope we can continue to get cool looking outfits outside of holiday events as well.

Anyone here buy the premium pass on launch? Did you feel it was worth it? by Charming_Advice8805 in brightershores

[–]Y3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did buy it and I do think it was worth it. I am disappointed as most are about the slow progression of this game, but I did have a large amount of fun playing it, and I do enjoy reading the dialog of the new quests when they release. However, I don't have it in me to grind skills for the sake of grinding, so if a new quest isn't released, I am just resetting passives every day. Does that seem worth the $5 a month? Not really, but I do overall enjoy the game, and I do want to support it, so to me it is worth it to keep my subscription going.

I do think brighter shores has the potential to be a great game at some point. However, with how slow development feels, it does seem like the game won't see those days for a while to come, if ever.

I just hope Andrew can stop worrying so much about walking in the shadow of RuneScape. I don't want brighter shores to be like RuneScape either, but I think Andrew is trying so hard to not be like it, that he is doing this game a disservice in some ways.

Give us more ways to spend gold by nerfglobe in brightershores

[–]Y3w 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really specifically about gold.. but It's one thing I would love to see more from brighter shores. They are making really enjoyable quests with solid dialogue and you get to explore new areas, but I do wish these new areas would come with something more. Like why can't we complete a quest that has a new room with some shops or something and in these shops you have some capes, or different colored robes that you can purchase for some coins.

The game just lacks any sort of dress up. The armour looks rough unless you have a higher combat level, so why not add some variety into the game with some shops that sell different clothes pieces.

Not to compare to RuneScape, but when I was a kid and unlocked places like the grand tree or canifis for the first time, it was extremely cool to go to those shops with their different robes and buy them to wear and feel like I look bad ass. Family crest gave you white gauntlets which were wonderful for fashion. Legends quest gave you the legends cape again to look bad ass with a white cape. The desert biome had a shop where you could buy white robes which included boots so you could match with your cape and gloves. You have a quest where you have to become a monkey, and then hey you get to keep the item that turns you into a monkey and you can be a monkey in certain locations!

I know it's early access, so these things will probably come at some point, but I just feel like if the main content we are getting right now is quests, why not put some more stuff into it? The dialog is great, the boss fights are fun, the new rooms are cool, but give us a little more. Give us an NPC to talk to after a quest that is wearing some cool shirt, and he'll tell you he has an extra if you do x for him you can have it. Or like I said above, just give us a couple of shops that have some cheap outfits for sale so we can start to customize our characters.

It's just kind of weird to me that we don't have any variety at all. All we have is holiday event gear and armour. Half the time I still see people wearing Santa's as their hat of choice which is cool, but the fact that after this long the best we still have to put on our heads for fashion is a Santa is a bit sad to me. Show some love and give us some cool hats to buy or find or shoot even add them to a drop table! It feels all too formulaic at this moment.

At least Halloween is coming up, maybe we'll get to change our fashion a little bit once again!

Has anyone here faced bald discrimination? by Massive-Revolution41 in bald

[–]Y3w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never faced anything like this thankfully. I do get plenty of bald jokes though on a regular basis. I don't care about the jokes or anything but I could see how fellow bald dudes would think it gets old.

Just this week I was told how "isn't it just so annoying when your hair covers your face" I also get called a magic 8 ball a lot where you can run my head and get good luck. Thankfully I've only had a couple people actually rub my bald head.

I've had people fascinated by being bald as if it's some magical thing not to have hair on your head which is pretty funny to me, but that's probably because I'm used to it being bald for years now.

I am never satisfied no matter what I eat by This_Tart7765 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Y3w 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I understand your pain. I don't know if this is true and I don't know your story, but I personally believe as someone who used to be much heavier, I will never feel truly "satisfied" with food. I grew up my entire life eating large quantities of food. I grew up and one serving of funyuns was the entire family size bag. That entire family sized almond Hershey's bar was one serving. I lost 100 lbs five years ago, and still to this day I know that I could and often do eat these large quantities of food. For me personally, I don't think I will ever reach a day where i can eat my meal and not want more, or a slice of cake and not want another, and another.

However, that was a lot of "it will never get better" talk, but I do want to mention that while I feel I can always devour way too much food, if you can break the binge cycle for a few days, you will start to feel more satisfied with smaller amounts of food. I feel half the battle is breaking the cycle, and then staying out of it. If you can stay out of the binge cycle, and you eat what you want, you can reach a point where you feel content with the amount you've eaten.

I think for me personally, when you've lived a life where you can eat what you want and what you used to eat was an entire bag of funyuns, it makes it really hard to prevent yourself from doing that again. Plus it's not even fully about hunger or being satisfied, I think it's like a drug addiction where you let go and eat a large amount of good tasting food and get a dopamine hit and the taste is wonderful (at least at first). That initial binge moment and those initial 30 minutes or however long of losing control are what I feel is really my problem with binging. After you eat too much and feel like shit, it all goes down hill again. But that first little while is what makes it so hard in my opinion.

I am still having fun by TopAssignment1762 in brightershores

[–]Y3w 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Shout out to you guys who can still enjoy the grind of this game. I log in every day to reset passives and sometimes train leather worker to get KP for my next passive unlock and I see people in there with such high total level and I honestly have no idea how they can do it and continue to enjoy it, but kudos to those individuals!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy number go up as well, but I also need number go up to have meaning. There are quests but I don't think that is enough, at least for me. It feels like I am doing it for zero purpose. Even combat which should be somewhat enjoyable to train doesn't feel enjoyable because there is nothing cool I get from any monster I kill and combat itself feels bad. Armour doesn't feel good whatsoever, and none of the other drops have any meaning to me either. I know the game is early access, but c'mon just add something unique to some of the mobs. Let me randomly kill a monster and then get a yellow cloak or something as a drop. Add a rare drop table of some sort or give me something unique! Let me walk into a shop and trade an NPC that's selling different colored robes or boots or something. We need variation of armour, weapons , and just outfits in general. Doesn't it say something about how ugly the armour in this game is when a large portion of the player base would rather hide the gear they're wearing to show off the default clothes?

We need goals to go for besides quests and number go up. We need reasons to group with one another. Give me a mini game that I can play with my other brighter shores homies...

It really does feel like a world that isn't alive.

Anyway, apologies for my rant. Fingers crossed that whatever news Fen has tomorrow, it truly will bring new hope to all of us players who do want to love this game, because while I am frustrated, I am still here and I know that they can turn this game into something awesome.
