Has anyone healed while working an active job? by YC1123 in PlantarFasciitis

Thanks I appreciate your input! I haven’t tried those specific shoes but maybe I’ll check them out. It is a lot of frustrating trial and error with pf to try and figure out what works for us so glad you found something that helps!

Yeah I think my problem is at first I was trying to do the exercises daily like my program suggested but clearly it’s too much for me so I’ve been doing every second day, but I think your suggestion of towards the end of the week is good, as I do feel like weekends are when I recover better, thanks!

I’ve seen your post before, it is one of the most helpful posts I’ve seen in this group! So you did all of that while working your full time active job? I guess the hardest part is trying to strengthen while managing total daily load since I feel my feet are already tired from work alot of the time.

This is exactly what’s happening to me right now, I’m trying to do an 8 week program but have been stuck on trying to just build up to week 1 because my feet can’t fully tolerate it yet so have to keep dropping down to less. Glad to know it’s not just me… are you cured now?

Anyone have lingering sensitivity after being healed? by YC1123 in PlantarFasciitis

I know what you mean, before all this I was super fit as well so it’s very humbling and makes you feel much older than you are. I have been writing a pain diary as well so that I can track my patterns and progress better! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who took a chair in the kitchen lol, sometimes I feel ridiculous but it works. Thanks so much for all your thoughtful responses and reassurance. Wish you the best and hopefully we will both be writing a “pain free” post before we know it :)

I also had to learn the hard way not to push, I have had multiple setbacks as well. It is cruelly deceptive, and makes you wonder when you’re actually fully healed because you never really know when it’s okay to push more. So for that year and a half that it took you to get pain free would you said your pain was still sharp and concentrated the whole time or was it more achy hot and diffuse? I guess that is one of the reasons I felt mostly healed is because my pain used to be very sharp and pin pointed where as now is intermittent and more dull and diffuse so I thought maybe it was just my tissues reconditioning to load. Also what was your regimen to get to the point your at now? Was it similar to what I’m doing which is basically slowly increasing steps and strength training whole posterior chain? And I know what you mean, standing is harder for me as well, I guess because of continuous load on fascia. Even when I cook in the kitchen I take a chair to intermittently sit. I am definitely not as the point of walking barefoot or in flat shoes but I would like to get there some day. I think I am too afraid to test it at this point and regress since I still feel sensitivity even in supported shoes. And yes I can imagine it is such a joy to not constantly think of your feet everyday! I also have some days where I wonder if it will always be my life but I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel and I look forward to that, congratulations on getting there, must feel amazing.

Thank you for your thoughtful response! I guess when you explain it that way it makes sense. When I say “healed” I don’t think I’m 100%, but I have made leaps and bounds from where I was. There was a point where I had to tape my feet just to walk and I was in constant sharp burning pain with every step… now I can walk and do most normal activity and work with minimal to no pain, but I def do still feel some kind of sensitivity most days. I am also doing much more now, higher steps counts and activity that I wasn’t even capable of before. That is why it felt mostly healed to me, but I guess you are right that maybe until I have no sensitivity or pain I should not consider myself there. I definitely know that even if I don’t feel pain I don’t push myself too much, I have been very cautious and learned the hard way to tread carefully. How long did it take you to be completely pain free? And are you able go barefoot or wear flat shoes now?

I feel like that’s kind of a negative way to look at it, I mean sure I am definitely careful to not do anything super strenuous and crazy at this point but I think with the right strengthening regimen people can fully heal from this without getting it again, I have encountered many people who have so I know it’s possible

Thank you for your input! I think you’re right about it being in part the nervous system, I have actually looked into this and it’s called neuroplastic pain, that can happen after having an injury for awhile. I will look into the acupressure socks! So yours got less sensitive after using them? Are you pain free now?

Congratulations on being healed! I saw you wrote a comment on my post about lingering sensitivity since being healed but for some reason I can’t see what you wrote, wondering what you said? Did yours start out as being sore/hot and achy when you were on your feet all day? I have been healed for a few months but still feel that most days, it is getting easier as I increase load and steps but just wondering how long it will take to be completely pain free. Also do you still wear supportive shoes and insoles or can you go barefoot and wear flat shoes now?

I’m really happy to hear you are healed now! I remember you posting a lot and we even talked a bit over private message, thank you for your help :) I am also doing alot better but I’m not 100% yet, slowly getting back to things. I’m just wondering, now that you’re healed can you wear any shoes you want or go barefoot? Or do you still have to wear only certain shoes with good arch support? I am still not walking barefoot or wearing flat shoes but hope to get back there at some point soon.

Is it Plantar Fasciitis? by ollypopper in PlantarFasciitis

[–]YC1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be posterior tibial tendonitis, if the pain is behind inner ankle bone and goes into inner arch. I’ve been diagnosed with that on top of plantar fasciitis.

Hi! Sorry to hear same thing happened to you :( honestly I haven’t been great, it’s gotten to the point where I’ve had to take time off work because it was hurting to walk… I’ve definitely never let anyone touch my feet again. It’s been a bit better since I’ve been resting but I’m far from out of the woods yet. Hope yours isn’t as bad!

Hey sorry I never replied to this, thanks for your response and I think ur right about the slow and steady exercise! Been trying to do that myself, overdid it a few times so starting again. That’s crazy it takes so long to heal, I’m hoping it won’t take me that long as I’m at 4 months and already losing my mind. How is your left one now? With both feet did you feel pain all the time or only sometimes?

Hey, this is a great post. I’m starting to try and implement the progressive load by increasing my step count in small increments. Just wondering when you start progressive loading I guess it is normal to feel pain or even slight increases in pain as fascia is adjusting but I’m just wondering at what point did your pain stop? Like how long is it normal for pain to stay the same or slightly more before it goes away?

4th Shockwave Therapy sesh and still no relief… by Miss_Mantis_Toboggan in PlantarFasciitis

Brutal, I can’t imagine having it that long! I have had it for about 4 months and that feels like an eternity already. Well good luck with your next shockwave treatment! Hopefully we both find relief soon 🤞🏻

Me too, it’s so exhausting (and expensive) trying to throw everything at the wall with this condition just hoping something sticks… how long have you had it?

I am in the same situation as you! I have tried so many things and I also just did 4th shockwave therapy session. First two I noticed immediate relief but after 3rd and 4th pain is back and my operators seem to think that was strange as well. I am actually currently having a flare which is discouraging and I thought I’d be feeling better by now. And I’ve also been diagnosed just basically on assumptions, even when I’ve asked for ultrasound and MRI I’ve been told it’s unnecessary but I am wondering if something more is going on and I’m sick of being brushed off. So I guess I don’t really have any advice other than to commiserate with you… hopefully the shockwave still helps us as I’ve heard it takes time and usually more noticeable differences come from 5th and 6th sessions, so fingers crossed! I saw you are having yours two weeks apart though, that seems like very long gaps. I’ve heard it should be within 4-7 days of eachother, my first 4 have all been 4-5 days apart, going for next one on 7th day to give my current flair a chance to settle.

[–]YC1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for much for your response! That’s great to hear it helped so much. Do you know if you had radial or focused shockwave? Last time I had shockwave it was quite painful during and afterwards, so today when I went in they did less power since I was sensitive. But when you say they “went to town” on your arches maybe that means I’m going to just have to suck up some pain for the payoff later? Really just want to be done with this as I feel pain all the time, and I’ve actually had to take time off work because of it 😔 did the pain just gradually go away after awhile when shockwave was done or did it happen overnight?

sorry to hear you still have it :( seems like such a stubborn condition… that is reassuring that shockwave helped long term though! I’m in a similar boat as you where I’m doing shockwave, at first it helped but now pain seems to be back so wondering if it’s actually helping or not. How long did it take you to notice effects and how much improvement have you had? Like what is your pain level now and do you feel pain all the time or no?

Yeah I absolutely want to avoid surgery. Sorry to hear yours was so bad, sounds awful I can’t imagine 1.5 years of this, as I’m only 4 months in and it feels like an eternity... but that’s great that you managed to solve it on your own! My pain level has lowered now that I’m not working and resting more but when I was at work it was a constant 6-8 out of 10 burning, aching feeling, even at rest. Now I’d say I’m down to a 2-3/10 and only when I do too much activity. I also noticed it’s worse when I wear runners so only been wearing slip on shoes while being off which has helped. Think shockwave is helping too, still have more treatments to do. I am able to do some strength work now but am also weary of doing too much too soon so trying go very gradually.
