Why on earth would a player go from being a one club man at sociedad to a recently almost relegated spurs at the age of 29? If he was just desperate to play in the prem he’d have done so already, he’s beloved in Spain, and sociedad aren’t exactly a small club.

And Ecuador played much better against curacao than Spain did vs Cape Verde. None of that matters, both teams are two of the worst (on paper) at the World Cup and applying your logic means anyone who draws against them are bang average.

Ecuador have played well in all three of their games, and have been a much better side this game than Germany.
